Doug H.
i might add that the stage 2 RO's were calling hits on the larues. not sure why they weren't for stage 1. The question I had was why were they calling hits on Stage 2 with steel that falls? Doug

Doug why not? they call hits on flashers. by calling hits, i mean when the larue fell, they called "hit". at 360+ yards it's hard for some folks to see hits anyway. we asked if they were and they said yes. and after what happened on stage 1 thursday morning, that was a good idea. outerlimits
while on the topic of larues, i'm curious how they are even legal rifle targets, given 4.3 and appendix B7. if i read that right, the dimensions of metal plates have to be between 8" and 12". Alan Meek
while on the topic of larues, i'm curious how they are even legal rifle targets, given 4.3 and appendix B7. if i read that right, the dimensions of metal plates have to be between 8" and 12". from the front page of the multigun rules date 30 Sept 09 Provisional Addendum to the USPSA Rules, 2009 Edition Multi-Gun Matches Revised - Sep. 30. 2009 Change: MG 4.3.1, MG 4.3.1.5 MG 4.3.1.10, (allowing non-standard metal targets). MG 4.3 USPSA Approved Multi-Gun Targets - Metal MG 4.3.1 Approved metal targets for use in USPSA Multi-Gun matches include any metal target that provides an adequate method for the range officer and competitor (at time of shooting) to determine hits or misses. Scoring metal targets by listening for hits is not permitted. MG 4.3.1.5 Scoring of metal targets will be per the Optional Enhanced Target Values Supplement MG 4.3.1.10 Self-indicating targets when used in a Multi-Gun COF, may be engaged from multiple shooting locations as new targets. All types of metal targets may be used as scoring targets or no-shoots. Hope that helps

I understand why ROs call hits on flashers, they only indicate for a second and thats it, the Larues were down for 9 seconds, no need to call a hit because you can see it's down. The less I hear from an RO the better. In addition there was some coaching of which targets had been hit and which had been missed that I don't like to see at a National level match.
