ErikW
Is it true that ZM steel mainspring housings are hard to come by now? (Edit: they are out of stock and discontinued at Brownells.) If so, does anybody else make a steel one for STI/SV guns? asiaeagle
No more steel , but aluminum housing available at STI. I asked STI 3 months ago, they said that only black aluminun housings are still on the product line. I got a 2nd hand steel housing from a club member. eerw
wouldn't any main spring work? There is a gap that isn;t filled..but with all the big magwells..that shouldn't be a problem anymore..

Jack Suber
I switched back to an old ZM stainless housing (flat) I had. I prefer wedge or arched. I liked the aluminum housings I was using but found that the mainspring plug started punching the retention pin out of the top of the housing. I was on my 2nd aluminum housing when I decided to go back to the steel. Anybody had this experience or know what was causing it? As for alternatives to ZM - You would think someone would want to make steel housings. Oh well. Jack
shred
I think it's one of those things everybody's expecting somebody else to make. The extra ledge you get using a single-stack MSH is still a problem if you tend to angle magazines towards the back of the gun when re-loading, even with a big mag well. DBChaffin
Give Tami a call at SV (1-800-928-1911) or send her an email: info@sviguns.com. I talked to her a while back and they were supposed to be tooling up to make their own after waiting and seeing that noone else was. Won't hurt to check. MoNsTeR
The SVI GunBuilder lists both carbon steel and stainless steel MSH's as options, and www.bullseyeprecision.com lists them in their online store. I would hope they're not just pulling our legs...
