mwx40x40
I currently have an STI 2011 in 9mm with an aluminum frame. Would it be suitable to build a six inch 9mm with lightened slide for Steel Challenge. In other words would the lightweight frame hold up?
uscbigdawg
Can't see why not. Not like you're using full house loads in the SC. Rich
zhunter
SC is perfect for that frame, super quick transitions and powder puff loads. You might have the ultimate SC game gun
GeneralChang
Chris Schirmer showed me an aluminum frame that allegedly had 200,000 rounds through it before it failed. Some of which were major loads.
Merlin Orr
I like the way Sheldon says..."allegedly.." Save the frame for your BBQ gun....
2alpha
Have Metalife hard chrome the frame. Yes they hard chrome aluminum.
Flexmoney
I saw where Ned Christenson reduced (milled) a steel frame a ton. Kinda neat. As I recall...most of it wasn't where you could see it unless you tore the gun down. Of course, that could get costly. Then again...shipping a gun off for chrono chrome starts to even that price out. FWIW...a Glock 17 stills weighs about 22oz.
