N340 or 3N37, Which One

My new STI 38 Super is at the hard chrome shop so I can not test these loads yet but it want be to much longer before I have it back from Tommy.

I have allot of Hornady 124 gr. FP's and got really good accuracy out of them with my old gun when the power factor was 175 using 3N37.

The first load I was thinking of testing out of my new pistol is the Hornady 124 gr. FP's at around 1370 fps. I am going to load up some test loads with both powders, but just thought I would see what you guys think.

What kind of comp does it have?

N350 with 124/125s is popular with the STI comps.

I did some experimenting a month or so ago with N340, IMR 7625, and 3n37.  I didn't like the IMR powder, so I took that out of the equation right away.  It was really tough to notice a difference between the 2 vit powders.  I think the N340 adds a little more pressure... in the end I decided to stay with 3N37 since that's been working fine.  I've been using 3N37 for a couple years with no problems or complaints.  I just tried the other powders for the heck of it.

I've used both N340 and N350 for 124 gr 38 Super loads and prefer N350-- pressure seems lower and the comp seems to work a bit better too.

3N37 should be just the ticket, I shoot an almost identical load to wha tyou described, works great with my barrel/comp.

I tried N350 and didn't like it as much, 3N37 felt softer, IMO.

Another vote for 3N37. Sure would like to try 3N38...
