chrisjohn
I'm running a Tac Sol upper with their comp but no optic. Am I eligible for rimfire iron or open? My club keeps scoring me as open no matter that I register as iron. Can't seem to find anything on the steel challenge website.

ken hebert
comp=open. either unscrew it or put a c-more on that bad boy.
Tom Freeman
I am pretty sure rimfire is open or open.
Chuck Anderson
The scoring that I have seen says Rimfire Optics or Rimfire Iron. Doesn't say anything about Open or Limited. Seems like the comp wouldn't matter.
itchy
I think Chuck is right, it's optics or iron sights. I remember seeing a top iron sight shooter from the Ca Bay area with a comped gun. Seiichi
40S&W
Every steel match that I have shot in .22 Cal was .22 Cal. Didn't matter for sights or comps.
Airedale
From the Steel Challenge rules: RIMFIRE PISTOL EVENT: Open to any pistol firing .22 Long Rifle ammunition (see “ammunition” above). This event has two categories: “Optics” and “Iron Sights.” The use of any optical device (including lasers) qualifies that pistol for “Optics.” Fiber-optic sight inserts are allowed in “Iron Sights.” Rimfire divisions are divided by sights only. photoracer
From the Steel Challenge rules: RIMFIRE PISTOL EVENT: Open to any pistol firing .22 Long Rifle ammunition (see “ammunition” above). Dave No longer true. Read the new March 2011 provisional rules. Rimfire is now Open and Iron. Open allows everything. Iron specifically prohibits barrel ports, optics, and compensators and specifically allows fire-optic inserts. When they become final no more comps in 22 Iron division. Bansheex
At our club, a optic or a comp put's you in the open class on any pistol. We do have a separate class for rimfire open or limited. Edited June 24, 2011 by Bansheex
