Tony,

I suggest you make a trip to your Local Lowes or other hardware store other than Home Depot. In the hardware drawers they have Nylon Spacers. You might also need to get some Drawer pull Screws. 8/32 thread. You have Two Inches from the inside of the outer belt to the gun.

Alan

ps. It ain't gaming if it is in the rules :;):

Tony

I have not shot Limited since I started shooting SS 2 years ago. I will start practicing for the USSA 2008 Pro Am as soon as the SS Nats are finished. But, yes, there is a bit of a difference. In a Limited or Open set-up, the gun is lower due to rules on holster positioning. Also, the different positioning of the magazines on the belt will make a switching platforms noticeable. I used to position my Limited magazines in the Burkett "fashion", but after taking a lesson with Manny Bragg, I changed them to more resemble the SS positioning. You see, with the Burkett position of the "1st" magazine being essentially at the front of your belt, it is an unnatural place to reach. Your left hand, when it swings/reaches down to grab a magazine, physiologically "wants" to swing/fall back to the left side of your body if it is going to be a natural movement. To reach to the front of your belt, it requires just that, a reach, rather than a natural swing downward of the arm from the pistol grip to grab the magazine. So, by positioning the magazine more towards the left side of your body, the movement becomes more natural and ergonomic, and hence should be more efficient.

So, IF you position your Open/Limited magazines more to the left as I outlined above, the difference in changing platforms should be lessened to a degree. Will there be a difference, sure, but by following the advise above, it should also help you on the dark and darker sides

Tony,

I switched to Blade-Tech for everything (from a Ghost) over a year ago - and I am "overly" mature!

I made (bought) some spacers that bring the holster out a bit and kept the angle straight up and down (read that - use several spacers and "taper" the offset). It still meets the criteria and my draws are almost as good as the Ghost.

Application

I can't think of anyway to prove previous SS matches, so here I hope being squadded for the single stack nationals will do. http://www.1911ssc.org/Pages/Squad_List.html (Squad 10, shooter 282 )

My toy guns aren't even plastic.

Regarding reading assignments for Vagus I heed to one of our founders and can only suggest Vagus be versed in the previous 30 pages of this thread.

This guy has good kit!!

Thanks..

Oh, and I had been caught up on all 32pages of this thread before I posted. I am not one of THOSE guys.... That is the kind of behavior you would expect from a plastic gun shooter.

Zhunter - looks like the squads have changed again, but I'll be shooting Friday and hope to stick around the rest of the weekend. I don't have a room lined up so I am hoping the weather is nice. :surprise:

Started in 1988,

Single stack was all there was,

Colt Gold Cup, stock as it came from the factory,

.45 ACP 5.7 231, 200 Lead SWC, Smoky but effective!

Man those were the days!

Three stages at a local match and they actually paid you if you won your class!

............................

But then, I was turned to the DARK SIDE  ,

first a Wilson LE comp I added to my .45,

then the must have .38 Stupid with 10 round mags,

P-9's . Caspian Hi- caps, STI's

Complete madness set in :goof:

I'd like to join, but I'm afraid I too far gone!

Well, I gotta go get some batteries...........................

9 X21

Despite your transgressions, I see hope for you. I think posting the other side of those nice 1911's might do it

Better yet, new pics of an old open pistol returned to legit single stack glory!

Now to find a match & shoot single stack to become a REAL member!
