AikiDale
I'm heading to Las Vegas for the PBR finals. During the day I'd like to play photographer outside the city. Any location suggestions would be appreciated. I need to be back to the Thomas and Mac center about 5:00 P.M so I can't drive too far. Thanks in advance! P.E. Kelley
You are probably looking for "city scape" shots but my vote would be Death Valley. Fall (low sun) lighting works wonders AM and PM. Or for a quick jaunt the Red Rock canyon loop. It is on my list to revisit while I am at Shot Show. Patrick

Landscapes, desert rocks, anything around lake Meade. I'll check out Death Valley and Red Rock drive times though, thanks!

Very good, then this http://www.desertusa.com/redrock/ while not near Meade is right up your alley! Boulder City and Hoover Dam are only a short drive too! You WILL post some captures! Right? Dan Sierpina
Valley of Fire. It's up the highway about 15 minutes past the race track. Sunrise is a good time.

Front Man
I-15 in NW AZ, between Mesquite NV & St. George UT is awesome too. I can't remember how far from Vegas that was but it didn't seem too far back in the day. Buy a new car and drive back! AikiDale
Back from NV and here are a couple of pics from Red Rock Canyon. Dawn and Dusk just were not possible this trip so these are middle of the day:
AikiDale
and the same for the Valley of Fire. Must go back and plan to shoot when there are no clouds, or at least at dawn: Thanks to all for the tips on shooting locations!

Dan Sierpina
Very nice, Dale! Valley of Fire is awesome at dawn! It's worth getting up early for. Not to mention the lack of people in the place at that time. Edited November 6, 2007 by Dan Sierpina
