Atlanta area resturants

Recommended Posts

Well, I'll be there for three or four days next month and would like some ideas on places to eat. I'll be in the general area of the airport and while I like the chain type places normally, I'd like some local options. I don't discriminate when it comes to eating either(just look at me and you know I don't miss many meals) let me know what is good and where it is.

Thanks.

Fireant,

Since you stipulated near the airport, I am going to let you in on one of my personal favorites.

It is known mostly to locals since it is a small shop and off the beaten path.

It is a French cafe and bakery that is located on the main street in Hapeville, Ga.

This is just north of the Airport and best access is from I-75. Google maps will get you there.

It is just down the street from the old Ford Atlanta plant and I used to make a point to go there for lunch anytime I was in the area.

Great sandwiches and soups and pastry.

The have a recipe for chili that is unlike anything you ever tasted.

It is spicey, slightly sweet and so good I could eat a gallon of it.

"Cafe at the Corner"

636 South Central Avenue

Hapeville, Ga.

You should each lunch one day at the VARSITY. I ate many meals there while I was a student at GA TECH. It is right up 75 north of the airport.

Absolutely eat at the Varsity. Must haves: Onion Rings and peach pies!!!!
