I think I'll slip over to ETrade now and see what I can pick up in the form of stock in Olin and Winchester Seriously though, this blows...just when I was starting to have fun. Don't me too sure Walmart will continue to stock any ammunition. Small arm ammunition is also covered under this regulation. If you follow the original thread, the employees [Walmart salespeople] would have to store any ammunition at least 50 feet from the nearest source of flammables [i.e., camp stove butane cylinders and kerosene cans], and protect it behind a fire-resistant barrier capable of withstanding 1 hr from fire intrusion. Also, if there is the threat of a thunderstorm, all employees [and shoppers] would have to be evacuated from the facility. Also, Walmart employees would be required to have explosive-handling certification to be able to stock the shelves, and dispense the ammo. Then, a customer wishing to buy the ammo would be prohibited from being within 50 feet of flammables while in the store. Will they be escorted out of the Walmart store through a back door especially constructed for that purpose? Then, too, ammunition manufacturers would face onerous regulations just to ship their product to a retail establishment. The delivery trucks could not have metal sides, because of the potential for electrical spark transmission by the metal, and the ammunition would have to be packed in wooden boxes with 1" thick sides, and containing no more than specified amounts of the "explosive" materials. Forget retail sales. And forget UPS, FedEx, RPS, or any other common carrier shipping ammo or components for reloading directly to you. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I just got off the phone with a very nice gentleman at OSHA concerning this matter. He stated that it is VERY important that everyone go to this website and comment on the proposed changes. Call and make a comment to him IN ADDITION TO responding on this website: http://www.regulations.gov then choose option 4, select DOCUMENT ID, then type in OSHA-2007-0032-0001. When the document title comes up, go to the right side of the screen and click on COMMENTS ADD / DUE BY 7/12/07. To date, there are only 17 commments. FOLKS, THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE THE FUTURE OF SHOOTING COULD BE IN THE BALANCE. THE NRA STATED THAT THIS MAY GO THROUGH BECAUSE IT IS A BEAUROCRATIC ORGANIZATION AND NOT ELECTED OFFICIALS. The letter to Congress says OSHA "never intended" to get caught making these changes and is lying or is totally incompetent. Unfortunately, both conditions probably exist simutaneously in the Bureaucrats minds. Perhaps next they will require full flame suits and self contained breathing apparatus at self-serve gas stations, after all, some people have actually been hurt filling their cars up with gas.
