  1. I just had right hip replacement surgery on Sept 26th. It’s been 12 days now and I’m getting along fairly good. I can take short steps without crutches and I am off most pain medication. When you see the Doc make sure he does a "anterior" approach surgery and not the "posterior". The Anterior is more difficult for the doc but will result in a short recovery for you. Also make sure he uses a short stem cuz at 35 years old you will almost for sure have to have it replaced. Last year I ran quite a number of races in including a couple of Ragnar’s and riding my mountain bike 3 times a week. So you should recover very quickly, if you decide on a hip replacement. Scott
  2. I won't tell you if you don't want to know so here is the link http://apnews.excite.com/article/20100901/D9HV62EO0.html Well not really that big of a secret but there were many people who thought it was him all along. I love Top Gear it really is one of the best shows on all of tv. Scott
  3. I have loaded thousands and thousand of these cheep throw away hulls on my P/W and they run 100% and look better than the factory loads. As a mater of fact I like the Federal cheap hulls better than the new Win AA hulls. I can load the many times. It's just that after one or two loadings I'm a little nervouse of the paper bases coming loose in them and will only shoot them in my over and under instead of the semiauto after two loadings.
  4. Remember, last year Donington Park agreed to a big deal and got it signed with Bernie. Then they could not get the track done or the money to do it. Now the English race is in Silverstone for 10 years. I'm with smokshwn, I don't think they can get it built that fast. On the other hand Abu Dahbi got it done in less than a year and a half. But they have more money than god.
  5. Who is going to pay Bernie his 30 millon? There must be more to the story.
  6. From my testing of E3 is that it is total temp insensitive or neutral. I have done the ice test and sun test(actually I set the ammo on the radiator of my truck till it was almost too hot to touch.) on the same day within minutes of each other and had the ammo shoot the exact same velocity over the crono. You know after I look at the MC wing I'm not really sure that it "stalls" it. I think a stall is when a wing looses lift (or down force depending on direction). It looks like it fills in the turbulent drag area behind the wing and reduces drag by filling in the vacuum area with air. But I thought the race was a little boring due to the fact that they could not push very hard with a full fuel load. Maybe it will get better as the season moves on. and they learn how to manage the tires better. Scott
  10. I always make sure I take something with me "just in case". try a PowerBar® Fruit Smoothie Energy bar. They are made to deliver quick energy to normal runners. They also happen to get your blood sugar up quickly also, and almost always just the right amount. They are made to deliver some really fast sugar to your blood stream and then some a little slower. They were made for "normal" athletes who in their long run need to put some energy into their blood stream for extra boost after they have used their glycogen stores. They were made not to raise a normal athlete’s blood sugar to fast or to slow. Try them out they work good. Better than a Snickers bar. Of course I sometime like to eat a snickers when I get low blood sugar. And some times when I have normal blood sugar. Well that and a Coke. Scott
  11. You know all this talk about the Nexus One is making me want to get the dvd out and watch Blade Runner again. Scott
  12. We will still have pit stops for tire changes. Scott
  13. If you want low recoil data all you need is the data for shot. Use the 1 1/4 oz shot data and you will be almost dead on. Just find some shot data that uses the WAAF1 wad and drop the slug into the wad instead of the shot. The gun and load can not tell the diffrence between 525 grains of shot and 525 grains of slug. And yes I have tried this and it works. I got this from Ballistics Products. If you want, get their slug manual and yoiu will gain a wealth of knowlage. Scott
  14. We'll see if he stubles or is still great. It will be fun to watch!! Schumacher and Ross Brawn, the master planner and all around genius when it comes to running a race and a race team. Ilmor engines and an ok chassis it should be fun. Scott
  15. I have the exact same results with Tac. Sucks with the 55grn bullets workes great with the 68-69 and on up. Scott
  16. Well somehow or the other I was shooting with Cooley, Neth and Moots this year and I can tell you for sure that they shot as many targets as possible with their pistol including clays at WAAY more than 10 yds away. It looked like to me like they planned the stages and shot the stages with shooting as many pistol as possible. In tactical class it is much faster to reload and shoot 20 rds out of a pistol than it is a tube fed shotgun. I realize you shoot a mag fed shotgun with detachable mags and an uzi with a big mag, so if all thing are equal the pistol is faster than a tube fed shotgun. If your only concern is clock time then eliminating as much shotgun as possible is the goal because it is the slowest gun to shoot and reload. Then next gun to limit rounds on is the rifle due to the fact that it is slightly slower to do a mag change on and will transition from target to target slightly slower than a pistol will. And on those stages it looked like a big pistol stage rather than a 3 gun stage. Scott
  17. I hate those stages whe the shooter picks. When I go to a 3gun match I want to shoot the rifle and shotgun. You can shoot pistol every weekend and on some week days in most places, so on the "you choose" stages the "gamers" who are out to win, will shoot the pistol for everything they can, due to the fact the have lots of practice with that gun. And who wants to go to a 3gun match to have it really be a big pistol match, excep the the pro shooters who are there to win a prize and make the house payment that month. Yes I know that I'm not going to win but I don't want to have to shoot the pistol just to keep up. On the other hand if the stage said you can only use your rifle and shotgun, that would be fun!!! Scott
  18. I tried a whole bunch of lyman slugs and I used the Herco data for mine. I could not get them to shoot accuratlt. I also used the WAA12F wads and they would not group as well as factory slugs. Let us know how they shoot for you. I would stay with the data that is in the book. All of the slug data is with very slow powder you would not want to drop the powder charge much due to the fact that you will drop the pressure and not get a full powder burn. Most shotgun loags are on the very bottom limit of the pressure curve as it is. If you drop the powder charge too much you don't get a full powder burn. I don't think you would get a blooper (unless you went way down) but you will wonder why the gun is so dirty, and you will get wild pressure variations with bad groups due to the speed variations. I have tried very light loads with reduced powder charges in my bird gun that I use for skeet and with 14gr of E3 behind 3/4 of an oz of shot is on the very limit of what will burn in a shotgun. Scott
  19. "nothing to do but post on the forum" NOT You could always reload. And practice draws and wellll.... find a warm lady to snuggle up to. It was cold here in SLC this week but not quite like Montana. Yea I hate the winter also. One good thing, I say is that it is always easier to dress warmer than it is to dress cooler. Once it reaches 90 you can't take much more off to cool down. I would hate Arizona in the summer. Scott
  20. I have a 2000 Excursion with the V10. The Chevey does ride better but the Ex is WAY more comfy with 7 people in it. It has real leg room even in the 3rd seat. A full size guy could sit in the 3rd row for 6 hours with no problem. This week we are taking 6 people and one dog to Phoenix for turkey day. Oh.. thats about 12 hrs each direction. The engines are great and the tranies are tough. I have 160,000 on mine and all I have done is normal maintenance plus front brakes 5 or 6 times (but thats just me, have been a SCCA race car drive I love to brake HARD.) and a set of rear brakes, a set of front wheel berings and plugs twice. Just this week I put a rear pinion seal in it cuz it was leaking a little. You can go the the ford-trucks.com forums and read all about the Ex. You will find that they are reliable with few problems compared to most other big SUV's. Scott
  21. For me it's really close on what is more fun, Action Pistol or Sporting Clays. Sporting clays can be really a lot of fun. Different targets at every venue you go to. Congrats on great shooting. FITASC is hard. Scott
  22. Yes they are, BUT you don't get to see what the BC's are. You still really want the book. Scott
  23. Really very informative. His G7 drag data is right on for me. here is a link http://www.appliedballisticsllc.com/index_files/Book.htm Scott
  24. Order yourself Brian Litz's book and you will learn everything you need to know about spin drift. Including the math to figure it for youself and your gun. It will also give you real g1/g7 balistics on almost every bullet you could use. Here is the link. http://www.appliedballisticsllc.com/index_files/Book.htm Scott
  25. How far along are you on the the 6.5 Creedmoor? Scott
