midvalleyshooter
I purchased an ISMI recoil spring and I want to put it on the the stock guide rod. Can I do this? If so how? Thanks, Keith
driver8M3
with the gun fully assembled, lock the slide back, which exposes the end of the guide rod. grab the tip of the guide rod with pliers or something...and yank it out.
Micah
Like driver said...it can be done, but I would recommend picking up a non-captive guide rod. This will allow you to swap out springs easier.
midvalleyshooter
Thanks driver, worked like a charm. PB, I would run tungsten, if it was IDPA legal Keith

Nik Habicht
PB, I would run tungsten, if it was IDPA legal Keith IDPA and GSSF --- two reasons to keep plastic rods with the ends chopped off.....
dsb1829
with the gun fully assembled, lock the slide back, which exposes the end of the guide rod. grab the tip of the guide rod with pliers or something...and yank it out. Did this tonight. It was mostly painless. I bought a new glock factory recoil assembly as the donor and swapped it for a 13lb ISMI. A pair of pliers with a good wedge to pry loose the endcap was all it took. Now I have a factory recoil setup and an IDPA/USPSA legal lower power captured setup. Cost about $30 total to my door to do it this way via Midway. Thanks driver!
spacecoastbill
How did you get the plastic guide rod back when you reassemble it?
9x45
Just push the tip back in when the slide is locked back.
epontual
Does it apply to the dual spring assembly? Want to take it apart but looks like it doesn’t come out as the previous models. Don’t want to mess it up.
Braxton1
I wouldn't attempt to disassemble the dual spring. If you want to change something in the springs on a Gen4 or 5, just buy a new steel or tungsten guide rod and a new spring.
