hitman
What is the max OVL for glock 40 S&W mag / chamber? I am running 1.125 for my Glock and 1.190 in my STI but I am thinking of developing a round to run in both. From puting the caliper to a Glock mag it looks like I can run a 1.145 but that dosent tell me if I will be able to full amag at that length. I would like some input to cut my experimentation time. STI gunner
I am running 1.125 in my STI and in my Glock 35 with the same powder and same load and it works great in both.

eric nielsen
Keep some of your short ammo for Glock and long ammo for STI and compare the ACCURACY of your inbetween load - if you find one - to the older ammo. If you go under 1.150" you might still run the STI with no hiccups but for sure your bullets will be jumping a bigger gap so you'll really want to verify that the group size is still good. Opinions vary but "good" is around 1.0" or smaller at 25 yards. By 1.5" i'm thinking something is really wrong. Fireant
I worked up a load at 1.150 that makes major and groups well in all of my guns. That includes a G22, G35, STI edge, eagle and trojan. It does not matter which gun I want to shoot, the ammo is ready.

Chuck Merriam
1.145 to 1.150 will be fine for the Glock. The STI will prefer longer but should run just fine. With STI you will need to avoid lead or coated bullets, as they tend to dive harder and dent...but still run. Jacketed will hit the feed ramp and go in smoother.
