Zeke Menuar
As I impatiently wait for the XD45 Tactical to get approved. I am getting the gun ready. I have picked Dawson Precision fiber optic sights. Rear sight adjustable and front sight to match. I want to be able to be reasonably accurate from 0-25 yards. What diameter rod for the front sight .100" or .125"? Should the rear sight be black or have fiber optics? This will be a dedicated race gun. Thanks ZM
Chris Keen
.100 & basic black would be my choice
HSMITH
I would skip the fiber in the rear sight completely, buy the .100" front and have it narrowed to .080" or so. I would also deepen the rear notch as far as I could go without wrecking the sight.
Loves2Shoot
Skip the FO rear, it takes your focus away from where it needs to be. I use the .100 fronts not rod width but sight width. I'll be at the Colombia Cascade Section match in Aug if you want to check the different sights out.
Cole
I'm also a big fan of flat black rears with the fiber front. If the value of the fiberoptic front is to be able to quickly track it, why distract with fiberoptic rears?
XD Niner
I'm with Loves2Shoot and Cole. This is the rig I have on my XD-9 Tactical and it is perfect for me. Now if it would just aim the gun all by itself!

Kevin Kline
I stick w/ plain black for better focus on the sights, but some like the FO. I find it makes me hose like crazy, but drop points quickly.
ShootinIt
Is there much, if any, difference between the Dawson adjustable rear sight and the Bo-Mar adjustable rear sight? I too am looking into the adjustable rear sight...fiber optic front sight set up for my XD.
Steve Moneypenny
The bomars and dawson are a little different on the sight picture normally bo-mars are melted in and dawsons just ride up on top of the slide. not a big fiber optic fan at this point all of my guns are black sights.
