engineerjet
Started this journey in April, watching as many videos and reading as many forum threads about the process as I could find. Theres still so much to learn as a hobby builder with no machines. It was truly a humbling experience and I'm thankful for everyone who helped guide my ignorant ass. Finally assembled and function checked. Next step is test fire! Some pics of my progress! FItting the slide was the most grueling part, and took the longest When the slide finally slid on was when it started getting real to me. filing rub points of the slide stop Blending is probably my favorite part Could be better but I'm happy with it. Using a file to match the slide to frame face since nothing lined up. First time beveling, got carried away Fitting the barrel was kinda therapuetic This bugged the crap out of me and I looked forward to finally getting to blend this mess. Again, not the best but happy for my first attempt. Edited October 6 by engineerjet

I definitely feel like a crude mechanic that just slapped a car together compared to the real builders who take a lot more time to focus on the details. RJH
If you don't mind me asking, what did the parts cost to build that? And is it stainless or are you going to have to get it coated?
engineerjet
Your mileage may vary, but with various parts i already had and the different brands I went with, without the optic youre looking at roughly 2600 in just the parts, not including jigs and tools and sanity I definitely plan on having it coated so thats another cost, I'm currently shopping around for a good coater. I've seen the magic you cast on their slides.
