Recommended Posts

OK, I just bought a burstfire 2 brass annealing machine. Because I want to start annealing my brass. It says I should anneal first, but, All my brass is already Sized deprimed and trimmed. How should I proceed. Thx USMC

I anneal after sizing and trimming. I want all the work harding completed before I anneal. That way all the bullets release the same when fired.

This was kind of my thinking too, but, I don't know. Thx

I found out the hard way - dimensions change after annealing; I now aanneal immediately before sizing.

Have to agree here.^^ It will size and load differently when soft. I did some after some forming and they didn’t turn out as well as the ones that were done before forming.

What are you guys think this is 8 Seconds on my burst fire 2. It is all TTA 11 with the cross in the circle. This shows the annealing coming down about an eighth of an inch further than on all my other brass.

I always thought the annealing was so that the brass all sizes in a uniform manner. If the brass is at different levels of hardness, different pieces will have different amounts of spring-back or "memory" when sizing. Just my 2 cents.

Anneal then size then trim if required. I am slowly turning down from shooting elr and lr. I load from 223 to 375ct with solids. Well until i downsize and just mostly do pistol in the future..

This is typical process or fclass bencherest , prs and elr

Flame can work some will under anneal with one which does little bad or good and some will over anneal with one which is bad. An amp annealer is the best way to go. I'm in the camp it can add brass life for sure but I'm not sold I need it for ES / SD.
