adamastergunner
I reload my own ammo and wanted to know if my STI DVC is stovepiping does that mean my recoil spring is too heavy or too light. Thanks.
RangerTrace
Need some more info. Is it the last round of a mag, random or every round?
adamastergunner
It happens every few rounds when firing through a full mag.
shred
What caliber/bullet/velocity? The ones that don't stovepipe, do they just dribble out? If so you need more powder or a lighter spring.
adamastergunner
It is a dribble.
shred
Then you need more powder or less spring. What caliber/bullet/velocity?

MikeyScuba
Weak grip, dirty or dry gun can contribute. My new STI 3 gun had an issue with the extractor I think. I was a new shooter at the Tim and sent it back to get fixed.

IMO, 130pf is on the "weak" side of the 124g power curve. Grab a lower weight recoil spring calibration pack and find out what gives you correct function with ~3-4' ejection at 4:00 o'clock of your spent brass. https://www.taylor-tactical-supply.com/1911-recoil-spring-calibration-kit-p/1911-recoil-spring-calibration.htm Of course, this all depends on the extractor and ejector functioning correctly along with the pistol being clean and properly lubed. shred
This. Start with a well cleaned and oiled pistol and an 8 or 9 lb spring and work from there. If somebody has been mucking with shaped firing pin stops and heavier mainsprings, then undo that too.
