ysrracer
Anybody loading .38 Special with 147/148 coated bullets? I'm using Win 231 and I can't find any load data online. I'm thinking of starting at 3.5 grains. Thoughts?

xjwalt666
I run 4.4gr of 231 with a 140gr. Runs about 920fps. So I'd start around 4-4.2 with the
ysrracer
Thanks guys. I loaded 3.5, 3.65, 3.8, and 4 grains of 231. 4 grains was the only one worth shooting. The others were too light for my liking. Thanks for all your help
Joe4d
got buckets of 147 truncated cones loaded to about 135 PF in my 5",, But all with WST, American select,, maybe Universal.... Basically used up the small amounts of odd ball powders I had left. Had a couple cases of Precision.. At one time I had plan to load all my components then give away/sell my reloading tools. Wasnt in a good place at the time.

Joe4d
its been around forever, should be plenty of published data to get you close. Have you tried looking at HP38 data ? same powder
xjwalt666
I always read and hear that 231 is better loaded towards the high end or else it doesn't burn all the powder completely. That's what I started doing and it keeps my revo much cleaner.
