Just want to make sure before moving forward with holster for IDPA.

rule 8.5.1.8 states holster needs to of standard or normal thickness.

So my question is,are double layer Kydex holsters acceptable. It will be two layers of .80 kydex

I hope so. A lot of people are using RHT and GX double layer holsters.

The way they worded that is typical of the level of technical writing expertise in their documentation. Having a rule requiring "normal" stuff? Really ?

What is "normal"? It is ridiculous to have a requirement written using that language.

Please IDPA get a freaking tech writer to write your most important document.

It's an unenforceable rule, as already explained.  Use whatever you like.  In any event it's unlikely anyone would even know that's a thing.

Are you sure you don't mean a thickness of .080"?

.80 is almost a full inch thick"

.080" is pretty typical for a Kydex holster, so two layers would be .160" thick.  That would make the holster 20% as thick as .80"
