nhglyn
What is the minimum age to shoot in a Steel Challenge match? Thanks.
aandabooks
No real minimum. Need to be able to follow the commands of the RO and have safe gun handling skills. I have seen videos of people with 8ish year old children out shooting Steel Challenge.
xpierrat
No minimum per SCSA.... however some ranges do have limits...example the worlds currently are held at CMP in Alabama and they have I believe a 11yr old minimum Edited June 3, 2020 by xpierrat
nso123
My 9 year old is shooting his first match this weekend. We have worked pretty hard on the commands and safe handling.
photoracer
Youngest person I ever saw shoot SCSA was VQ pro Ron Oliver's daughter Venice. She shot the Rimfire Worlds and her first sanctioned SC match at 7.Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
photoracer
You may have seen her on Shooting Gallery because she shot the entire 16 stages of the 2019 Rimfire Worlds without a single miss. That was her goal.Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
The Donald
We have a few shooters that have had their kids around 6-7 shoot Steel Challenge. It is worked out with the R.O. that the parent brings their son/daughter up and uncases the firearm and helps with the reload, etc. We run them at that age more for fun than score. I personally like the idea both for helping new shooters join the sport, but also for dad-daughter/son bonding.
