  1. Glad you had a great time. I was one of your RO's on Pendulum and it was good to meet you and your son. Look for you both next year
  2. LOL I make POA a foot high so I can lob them to the plates
  3. My Pcco load is 2.7gn of Bullseye , 115 plated Extreme head at 1.105 oal very soft
  4. At Alabama State there was a cart where the muzzle's were pointing apox 6 to 7 feet in front of the cart so any time they pushed past people they were sweeping their lower legs... as a shooter ( and as a RO ) i would prefer all long guns in a case or scabbard they can still be carried in these carts just fine and then there is no discussion of taking them out at a berm and up or down.... the scabbards cost less than a box or two of 22 ammo and are quick and simple to use.
  5. The problem is practice score still list it as "main Match " and has a overall listing which is of course is top heavy with rimfire and PCC times which gets the centerfire handgun guys panties in a wad. if they changed it to centerfire handgun( instead of main match ) and did away with a overall listing and just had each division listed then as a centerfire guy you would go to centerfire and see how you did... no need to see other division times unless you were curious ... also high match overall should go away for the same reason... just first 2nd, 3rd in each division ... still have steel master etc. maybe if it was done this way there would be less pissing about other divisions... JMHO
  6. As others have said match is full... this one fills up in minuets not hours or days that being said watching some of the best is a thrill AND learning experience in itself also you might check with Zack Jones ... I don't know if it is possible to pay and shoot some practice up in the practice bays or not if it is possible then range time is always good. You would have to go through the safety brief and get the range card anyway.
  7. I have shot and RO'd the last 4 worlds and last 4 Mississippi state matches at Miss they used Scouts to paint and they did a very good job and was as fast or faster than squad painted matches, especially where you sometimes had to call for painters a couple of times. BTW at worlds the "super" squad usually did a better job of being ready to paint then some others FWIW The number one thing I have seen that speeds up painting is a golf cart on Speed option and Outer limits save 10 to 20 seconds per shooter. dont sound like much but that is 2 to a little over 3 minutes saved per squad times 8 squads and you are finishing 15 to 30 minutes sooner per flight.
  8. There is a wonderful and inspiring SCSA shooter that has no arms and shoots using his feet. there are adjustments for disabled ( not fond of that word ) shooters. rim fire would be the obvious choice and loading and un loading will be the challenge to work out. dropping the mag on a table or into a assisting RO's hand then with permission shooting the last chambered rd into the berm will clear the gun and if the RO is given a empty mag to put int the firearm it will of course lock the bolt back for show clear. Main thing is to be safe and have fun. he shoots from a chair but I do not recall how he handles reloads. Sorry
  9. Alot of us just use a scabbard Amazon.com : VISM by NcStar Tactical Rifle Scabbard (CVRSCB2919G), Green : Gun Slings : Sports & Outdoors
  10. It should be load enough just like the other short barrel/tubbed examples wiland, taccom etc the leading of threads (as mentioned above ) should be a concern though.
  11. does anyone know of a SC match on 10/15 or 16 in San Antonio or at least South Texas area ( I know its Texas so of course it a large area )
  12. Yes to both questions I hold USPSA RO cert w/ SC endorsement... I will never work or shoot a USPSA match again at 75 yrs of age. I have Roed the last 4 WSCS matches. My wife is not certified but has mentioned she would be if there was a SC only RO class.... most of the local Shooters I have talked to indicated that they too would be interested in a SC only class . Having SC certified RO's would be a nice improvement to State and Area matches IMHO
  13. Yea I believe you could do it in a day.... not having to learn the complexities of USPSA scoring alone will save a large amount of time... should not need any time out on the range either... could all be done in the classroom a experienced SC RO could teach a certified class with a proper text book IMHO
  14. I believe Troy's ( USPSA ) thinking is that they want more USPSA certified RO's available for USPSA matches so making everyone take the full class will give them this... what they fail to realize is that there are many.... many current certified RO's that will never RO a USPSA match EVER! for many reasons.... mine is I am too slow and old to safely do so.... and in fact have not even shot a USPSA match in many years. Providing a way to have certified SCSA RO's would benefit SC and not be a loss to USPSA....and in some cases would provide a stepping stone to build the RO corps for USPSA certification and the CRO RM positions. I was told that the basic safety/rules are the same so there is no need for a separate class... sorry but there are a huge amount of rules that are different..... just the basic scoring knowledge alone is a determinate to some one only interested in SC The time for SC to stand on its own is here
  15. with both rifle open classes ( red dots ) I shoot the PCC first as it has a heavier trigger and weighs more than the RFRO gun and much prefer to do them AM /PM than in the same flight because they are just different enough that if I shoot the lite ( RFRO ) trigger first then I might experience a problem breaking the heavier trigger JMHO
  16. I will note as a RO at worlds last 4 yrs I have seen a number of wheel shooters shoot a wheel rimfire as a warm up knowing that against the traditional rfpo and rfpi guns they had little chance but did it for the joy ( and practice ) anyway

    10-22s

I would defiantly open up the chamber if you are shooting Steel Challenge This is what I did to my wiland barrel and is almost a must for real precision barrels such as Kidd and VQ items
  18. Hey shooters this is going to be a great match.... weather should be great this time of the year in North Florida come on out and get in one more match for the year! all prizes are random draw so even if you are a brand new "D" class shooter you can win!
  19. I have shot and worked the last three worlds... as far as the rimfire comments yes it has grown tremendously for several reasons... the only negative I see is the listing of combined overall results tend to give some a very false impression of how shooters finished ... of course the rimfires will be at the top.. low ready starts, lack of recoil, ability to practice a lot fairly cheaply ( in normal ammo times ) and yes young eyes, ears, and reflexes by some of the shooters. All of us at all ages will be faster with a rimfire... especially a rifle with a optic if you put in the time. I will say this I have seen those same young shooters now shooting more and more CF from production to open and many of them are doing very well I might add. You just can not and should not compare CF to rimfire or even PCC all have a place and are recognized at the awards and BTW ......... KC proved even grown ups can shoot a rimfire fast if they put in the work.... those 5 steel plates are pretty easy to hit............ until you try to go fast Photo for interest
  20. They get beat to heck... but it never seemed to affect performance .... if you are looking for a SC barrel I would recommend one of the super lights out there that use a 5 inch steel barrel with a sleeve to get it to the 16 inch legal requirement.... I use a Wiland and am very very pleased with it. It is 11 oz and all the weight is off the end where it counts... He also has a 8 oz Tritium model available on special order if you want the lightest available. Photo is of the wifes RFRO racer
  21. THIS what Bill said... Regular 10 rd mags as a minimum and re tune them to TK spec's or better yet as Bill said the double or triples will serve you well Best of luck and have fun Oh if you go with the black here is a tip to tell if you have a full mag... drill a hole to show the 10th shell... I also mark a tension index as a reference to get a consistent spring tension when cleaning
  22. You also might want to consider the Wiland Chassis and ultra light barrel... combine with the receiver of your choice ( I used the Tactical Innovations ) a CPC reworked Ruger bolt, and a Kidd Single stage trigger... The great thing about the Wiland is it is super adjustable to get that just right fit... Here is mine which is a right charging model ...also you do not need the clear mags... just drill a indicator hole that shows the 10th round... the TK double cross is a good item also
  23. LOL I am with you...BUT at least we can look good while getting smoked by the kids... I am starting a petition to get a Distinguished Super Senior category added
