avastcosmicarena
Looks like Kahles finally has their own version of the Swarovski z8i now. Hadn't heard about this at all before seeing an email from Sport Optic this morning. https://www.sportoptics.com/kahles-rifle-scope-k18i-10662.aspx I paid a little less than this for my Z8i though. Looks like Swarovski raised prices recently. Edited March 9, 2020 by avastcosmicarena
pjb45
Isn't the Swaro a different focal plane? I like their glass but the Swaro 1-8x the dope does not change with the magnification--?
CharlieD
Both are 2nd focal plane. The new Kahles 1-8 is pretty awesome. The FOV is so good that 2nd focal plane works out really well with this scope. With a typical 200 yard zero anything out to 250 you can pretty much hold cross hairs, so you can use any magnification, then dial 8x after that. cooper_999
The best feature of the new K18i in my opinion Is the “MaxLight” - there’s now an extra boost for the red dot available. Cuts down battery life but should improve the dot visibility on targets in bright mid day sunlight. Hosing on 1x is like shooting with just a red dot. Here’s a first impression of the “IPSC” reticle on a 25m indoor range (weather wasn’t that good yet to practice outside again) on a standard brightness setting and with the extra boost

cooper_999
I’ll be at a PCC match tomorrow. I’ll pack the K18i into my bag and try to take some pics.

I really like the second dot. Don’t recall, but that was not on max. It is perfectly daylight bright on max setting. The center dot is larger on the K18i vs K16i, which I think works out better. Your eye is drawn to the center better.
avastcosmicarena
The dual dot reticle looks less distracting on the new K18i compared to the K16i. Looks like the main center dot is a little brighter.
Desertfox
I kind of worry about the eye box since they usually don't get better with an increase of total magnification. Any thoughts on the Kahles K18i eyebox? How does it compare to the K16?
