  1. What I've wanted from the beginning on the MPX is a side charger.
  2. The comp cannot be removed. It is not threaded on. It's a machined part of the barrel itself. However, they did/do sell a separate non-comp sight block barrel that could be used for that new Limited Optics division. As for people selling Honchos, I wouldn't read too much into it. People sell all kinds of things. Honchos, SVIs, Atlas guns, etc.... and many guns have problems. Not downplaying the issue of broken locking blocks though. It hasn't happened to me, but I can't say how often it occurs. I don't know how many people it has happened to. I will say that I am disappointed in the huge price increase of the Honcho over the past 2-3 years. When I bought the gun I got several barrels with it for $4500 total, and now the same gun is selling for $7500-$8000. I originally bought it not only because it seemed innovative, but because it provided great value. However, now it's just as expensive, if not even more expensive than, the SVI and Atlas guns it's competing against. I would be very hesitant to spend that kind of money on one now. However, I wouldn't be hesitant to buy one used for a good price if it looked to be in good condition. They appear to be more focused on the HTAC/HDUTY guns right now. Trying to get the name out there outside of the competition world and in front of people who would otherwise be buying Staccato guns. The HTAC/HDUTY looks quality, and I'm sure they shoot great, but you can tell they are also designed to be more profitable. The gun itself is coated with cerakote instead of DLC, the barrel is not coated at all, the grip is just smooth + grip tape, etc., and the gun is selling close to (maybe a little less than) what the Honcho originally went for a few years ago.
  3. So will any 9mm 124 or 147 grain Gold Dot or HST.
  4. Holy s#!t, there are a lot of fudds on this forum. .40 is dead in the real world. Let it fade from competition too. The entire reason major and minor were created isn't even a thing in the real world anymore. IMO, just to piss these guys off further, Limited Optics should just be called Limited, and the old Limited should be changed to Limited Legacy or Limited Classic.
  5. It's not in preorder. It's been out for a few years. There are a number of videos about it on YouTube. I haven't seen one in person, but based on everything I've seen about them, they are nice guns with very nice machining, but don't shoot super significantly better than a Glock. Most of that probably comes down to the fact that the frame is aluminum (not steel) and doesn't weigh all that much. If you're just after a cool novelty with nice machining, it's probably a fine buy. However, if you're after the best shooting Glock platform, you probably want to get a Zev OZ9 instead (but keep in mind you're gambling on reliability with the OZ9 also... bad track record). IMO, it's a cool gun for what it is, but it would be way more interesting with a steel lower and more weight.
  6. Same here. I've never cared about the strength of the reset on any gun, rifle or handgun. I just want the most light and most crisp I can get.
  7. What would need to be modified about it? Is the JP5 lower housing more narrow or something?
  8. There really isn't any specific weight. It depends on the trigger and the gun. I can use my TriggerTech Diamond (AR version, not PCC version) with my PCCs and in one gun I can use it at 1 pound reliably with no doubles, but in another gun it will have doubles if I don't raise it up a little.
  9. Ahh, a little disappointed they went with the dual charging design. IMO, there is no benefit to having the rear charging handle there. In fact, it sort of limits it to a gaming-only gun, because having the rear charger means it's not going to be very pleasant to slap a suppressor on (gas leaking out of the rear charging area), which is one of the primary things people like to do with a roller-delayed blowback gun. I know companies try to sell it as a positive thing, because they say you have redundancy or that the shooter has options to fit their preferences, but, in my opinion, it's really just a cost thing for the manufacturer. It allows them to produce one upper design instead of multiple. I'd rather it not be there at all and just have the back of the upper receiver completely sealed.
  10. Awesome. Hopefully, they release those soon! Any pics?
  11. Still waiting on the Tungsten Grip re-release. As usual, Zev is incredibly slow.
  12. The TriggerTech Diamond is the best of the best in the AR trigger world, IMO. My runner-up choice would the be the AR Gold. However, these triggers aren't for everyone. I like them because they are very crisp, have a very short rest, and can get very light (like down to 1 or 1.5 pounds if you want), which I like. However, some people don't like them because they have a somewhat weak reset, and some people like to have a strong reset that sort of helps push their finger back. Both of these triggers have a pretty light reset. It's defined, but the click is quiet and it doesn't really push your finger forward. It depends on what you like and where your priorities are. EDIT: Never tried the Timney Calvin Elite, but heard it was good.
  13. Talked to someone at Zev, and they said they expect the tungsten grip to be back in stock in late summer.
  14. Depends on the trigger. The Tactical Trigger has a pretty well defined wall.

    Zev

Yeah, there aren't any aluminum or steel grips that mate up to the OZ9 steel receiver right now, sadly. I'd love to see someone do it. I'd especially like to see a big aggressive steel grip, like the Evo grips on the Phoenix Trinity Honcho 2011.
  16. Super jealous. I'd love to have the tungsten grip. That extra weight should make the gun very competitive with the Sig P320 Legion. It already has triggers out on the market that are just as good (Timney, Johnny Glocks, Tactical Trigger, etc.), and has a lower bore axis/less muzzle flip. It's just too light compared to the Legion. Hopefully, they make more of these.
  17. Just buy a lightweight aftermarket G34 slide from a different company, like Zaffiri Precision or similar. Zev is very, very slow with this s#!t. The OZ9 lower frame modular receiver was out of stock for like 1-2 years and just recently become available at retail again. Also, KC left Zev quite a while ago, and there's still no new Orion or other new G34 length slide by them. You could be waiting forever if you wait on them to replace the KC competition slide. Plus, that slide was milled for a not very popular Bushnell optic anyway. You'd be better off with a slide milled for an SRO or Romeo3 Max/XL.
  18. Damn, I completely missed the tungsten grip release. It's a shame Zev is so s#!tty about actually stocking reasonable amounts of things like this. Hopefully they eventually release more of them. The Tungsten grip puts the weight on a G34 length gun very close to the Sig P320 X5 Legion and should make it pretty competitive with it.
  19. Any word on a sidecharger version of the JP5 yet?
  20. There are also a few titanium BCGs out there that are only a tiny, tiny bit heavier than the JP aluminum BCG. Might be worth considering for a more permanent option.
  21. USPSA should get with the times and ditch .40 and remove minor/major power factor scoring from Limited, honestly.
  22. Let me know what you think. I also have a Z8i and am interested in the Vortex 1-10. I do think glass quality and FOV being worse could possibly make it slower for 3 gun & action shooting stuff though. We need a 1-8 or 1-10 FFP Swaro or Kahles scope.
  23. Why is the TS2 not coming in .40? They just don't care about USPSA Limited?
  24. Not surprising considering world events, inflation, raw material shortages, and the popularity/quality of the gun. I am the original creator of this thread and regret making it. I would not have made it had I known it would live on this long and become the main thread for people waiting on their orders. I'm not shooting as much as I'd like right now due to the insanity of current world events, but I still have my Honcho and love it.
  25. Blowback 9mm AR PCCs have more recoil/muzzle rise than a tuned .223 AR15. That's just a fact. People want the PCC platform to have as little dot movement as on a well tuned 3-gun style AR15. It's not about it being "a problem" as much as wanting the optimum setup. The reality is that the GMR-15 does have recoil/muzzle rise/dot movement. It's not non-existant. It's a good off the shelf, reliable option, but it's not the pinnacle of PCCs. This is why there are other people out there building their own highly tuned frakenstein AR guns, using Blitzkrieg/Kynshot buffers, using the Sig MPX, experimenting with different barrel lengths & compensators, etc...
