How To Score

This happened at a match recently. Two targets were placed one above the other in an overlapping manner. The lower target had an A hit, a hole that broke the perforation in the head B zone and body of the upper target. The upper target had an A zone hit.

Three holes in two targets. One hole intersecting both targets.

The competitor tried to claim scoring credit on both targets for the hole that broke the perforation. His logic was if it was a No Shoot, he would have been assessed a No Shoot and a Scoring Hit.

What do you all think of his logic?

I would not allow it.

If it broke the perf then it scores on both targets. The shooter was 100% right!

That is why you will usually see black tape or a no-shoot separating stacked targets.

Absolutely right. The targets are scored as they stand. There may have been only 3 holes, but there were 4 scoring hits. As Shooter Girl stated, bad target arrangement.

If the third round broke the head perforation where it overlapped on the top target --- then yes that round scores on both targets. Better stage design would have seen some hard cover or a no-shoot separating the two targets.....

Please if youever see stacked target tell the RM to fix it before the match starts. The shooters deserve to have things done right.

Why are the stacked targets a bad thing? No different than a no-shoot.

Only in the sense that if you use embedded ROs, it's possible that different squads score the same holes differently. It shouldn't happen --- but it can. I personally like shotgun arrays of a plate on top of popper, if you aim right and know where your shotgun throws it's pattern, you can pick up some speed......

Was this at the Ok lim10/prod sectional match. I remember that happening there. The shooter was scored properly if I recall. Its hard to remember as I was pretty busy as the MD.

I wouldn't have thought of that. I also wouldn't have thought to score it that way. I guess that's why you make the BIG BUCKS!
