Poly to steel interchangeable?

Actually they do make both versions versions of most poly guns. The pavonas are all small frame, the ps models are small frame, but there large frame models of the other poly guns. The actual two-tone carry p guns with cone-lock barrels are large frame. Iirc the polymer match and match pro guns are all large frame. You can tell what is large or small on most polymer models by the area around the opposite side of the frame from the slide stop. A large frame has a "tail" there.

I have all 8 Witness configurations, poly, steel, large frame, small frame, full size, and compact.

Barrels and mags are the same between the poly and steel frame guns, but the slides are different......provided both are either large or small frame.

You "typically" can't run a large frame slide on a small frame gun or vise versa.  However, it is possible, with some work, to run a large poly slide on a small steel frame.

Like JDK said above, if you put a poly slide on a steel frame or vice versa (of the same frame size), it will run, but there will be a mis-match at the back of the frame.  The back of the slide won't be flush with the back of the frame, but the firing pin location is the same, so the hammer can still hit it square.

The easiest way to determine if you have a large or small frame gun, is to look at the barrel through the ejection port with the slide in battery.  At the front of the ejection port, you will see the barrel's locking lug groove on a large frame gun, but you won't see the lug on a small frame gun.

Edited to add:  I don't have a P-Match though, so I am not sure if it's frame geometry is the same as a standard Poly gun or not.
