gmantwo
My son shot two matches in June with one of our open guns(STI, 6” with Scheumann Tribrid barrel) One minor, one major. No issues. Then upon disassembly, it was discovered that the firing pin was not only bent, but shoved into the firing pin hole so much it was a bear getting out. My buddy is takingbthe gun as backup to the Sportsman Team Challenge & was just checking things out. He was pretty sure had he slammed the slide on a round it would have gone off. Nothing was done to the gun after we shot the Arkansas sectional. I have absolutely no idea how this could’ve ended up this way after successfully shooting match Anyone else have any ideas? Lycanthrope
I've had a piece of the firing pin return spring come off and jam the pin like that. No idea how you could have bent the pin though. Can you measure your firing pin hole?
gmantwo
I’m away from home until August. I could use a drill bit to get size then. The firing pin was taken out just before the match he shot major in. 10 stages and the gun ran fine all the way through. Going to try to get a pic of the pin
gmantwo
It was bent worse than the picture, had to straighten it a bit to get it out
Steve RA
Might have stuck forward and been hit by a magazine being loaded ?? Was it bent upward when you discovered it ??
Broncman
Weak firing pin spring and slam a magazine in during mag change?
Dwane
That used to happen to me when I was practicing dry fire with dummy rounds without primers. I’m guessing the pin was hitting the brass around the flash hole... Edited July 5, 2018 by Dwane
