1) At "make ready" (in USPSA production division) is it legal to manually lower the hammer to 1/2 cocked position?

2) Will my SP01 mags work in the Shadow 2?

*If you have the Manual Safety, you must drop it completely. If you have the Decocker, it may be brought to the Half-Cock position. I tried pulling the NROI ruling that explained this but the new website doesn’t have it.

Since we are on the subject-

Rule 10.5.9 implies use of the decocking lever is acceptable.  However Appendix D4 (Production Division) states that external hammers must be fully decocked.  The term 'fully' to me implies that half-cock (or some other position but full down) is not acceptable.  Thoughts?

 

10.5.9 Failure to keep the finger outside the trigger guard during loading, reloading, or unloading. Exception: while complying with the “Make Ready” command to lower the hammer of a gun without a decocking lever, or while initially loading a revolver with a spurless hammer.

My thought is the exception to the rule covers lowering of the hammer if no decocker.

The initial NROI ruling was created in 2008.  The current ruling became effective 6/2/2014.  The question and ruling are quoted:

Does the CZ decocker or others similar, lower the hammer sufficiently to comply with Production division, and if not, how would they comply with the wording in 10.5.9 without being DQ'd?

 

Ruling:

Manufacturers have installed decockers to take the hammer safely to a position that is deemed safe, therefore; the term fully decocked is the position that the hammer rest at once the decocker has been used. Altering a factory installed decocker to bring the hammer to rest at less than a half cocked position is not allowed.
