mro111lland
I hand a 2011 9mm major every now and then I get a round that won't chamber. What happens is the round gets stuck between the bottom of the breach face, not yet to the extractor and the chamber. I'm tuning 1.165 length mbx mags 124 grain round nose bullets 12 pound recoil spring . Feed ramp is polished so is breach face any ideas .
Ultimo-Hombre
Perhaps extractor issue? Check tension?
mro111lland
Is aftec extractor and rim is not yet close to extractor when gets stuck
superdude
Is this a 3-point jam with the nose of the bullet hitting the top inside of the chamber? Or is the nose of the bullet low on the feed ramp? (nosedive jam)
mro111lland
Nosr of bullet is hitting top inside the chamber
superdude
Ok. That is a classic 3-point jam. One common cause is the round is too short. Can you load the rounds longer? What is the longest OAL that will still fit in your magazines and chamber?
mro111lland
Ya I can go way longer 1.2 will fit no problem
superdude
Give that a try.
Hi-Power Jack
1.2" will fit no problem I'd go up more slowly - 1.20" seems long for a 9mm. Try 1.175" and see what happens.
mro111lland
I I fugue I'd try 1.
Hi-Power Jack
If you seat the bullet out too far, you won't have much grip on the bullet, and they might start falling out of the cases when you rack the slide.
mro111lland
Not worried a bought that I have loaded them out that far before
Sarge
Also maybe check feed lips. They might be a little wide up front? Does it do it with all mags or just one?
mro111lland
It's only happened a few times and every time it's on the mbx big stick have measured the feed lips are inspec it seems to happen when the mag is full 3rd or 4th round out the other isue that is mag related is a round falls under the follower happened 5 times yesterday did not effect function I don't think calling mbx tomorro
Sarge
Narrowing it down to one mag makes it easier at least. Pretty much know it's not the gun or ammo at fault.

mro111lland
I did find I have a set back problem I saved all rounds that failed to chamber found were .030 shorter than they should be so checked this batch of ammo can push on them and seat them dealer with my thumb pulled some no crimp at all.think that could b the isue
Hi-Power Jack
What machine are you loading on? Which brand sizing die are you using? Crimp doesn't affect setback - that's a function of the sizing die.
mro111lland
It's a dillon 550 hornady resizing die expanding and flaring is done on the dillon side hornady seating and lee factory crimp today I chucked up the expander in the mill and took .003 off the expanding part
mro111lland
Have 300 rounds loaded put a nice crimp on them now I don't get set back will try the improved dillon part tomorro
Hi-Power Jack
It's a hornady resizing die expanding There are some tighter sizing dies, which do a better job of securing the bullet in the case. Probably solve your problem of setback - I see that you have reloaded them out pretty long before, but you may run into a problem with having too little grip on the bullet (they can be pushed it, or even fall out). mro111lland
I have also read online that if the gun is not timed right will cause 3 point James. Any truth behind that? I'm fairly new to 1911 but u would think if timing was wrong u would have more isues than that and it should have started right away
