Dewberry
Does anyone use a thumb rest for their weak hand thumb for 3 gun? It looks like a decent idea but I haven't seen any of the pros using one, the only drawback I can see is having to find/modify a holster to work. openclassterror
I use one on my open pistol. Most of the race holsters are cleared out in that area. For TacOps class with the enclosed type holsters it might be a pain finding one that works
EkuJustice
I have one for my open gun for uspsa and its more a place to put the thumb than anything. For 3 gun, I dont use one as I dont shoot open 3 gun and it would require a raceholster for the gun.
Dewberry
I was thinking just cut a slot out of the side for it to ride in.
billdozer
Bladetech makes a wrs holster to fit a full length dustcover 2011 with a thumbrest. I worked with them for about month and got one made, they have a mold for it now.
toothandnail
A Thumb Rest or Race Holster, does not put you in open in any 3Gun that I know of , also legal in USPSA. It makes a lot of difference.

Dewberry
Fnh rules it would put you in open Where in the fnh rules does it say it puts you in open? The only thing I can find for restrictions in TAC-ops is optic/sights, weights, comp/porting, and mag length restrictions.
BOOM
Like to see what you come up with. Adding a small piece of rubberized anti skid tape out where you rest your weak hand thumb helps some

HurtLocker
I use a Nitro Fin from Shooting Sports Innovations on my STI. BladeTech has the molds to make you a WRS that will fit the STI with the Nitro Fin. They don't show it on their website, but a tip from another guy in a similar thread said just call BladeTech. Sure enough and they said no problem. Charged me the same as the regular WRS.
billdozer
That was me and yes they do. They can do a regular doh and wrs. Both are awesome.
naim
From what I can tell the thumb rests main purpose is to help control recoil. In three gun there is a lower power factor and that's why many of the top guys don't run one. Personally I see it as just another thing to fall/break off and I don't run one while shooting major either.
billdozer
It seems to make me grip the gun more consistently, and the recoil reduction definitely helps
photoracer
Thumbrests have only been legal in open division. IPSC allows them in their Limited division and I know USPSA talked about it but I don't remember if they approved that or not. That was a couple of years ago. What Brian would call rules creep. I have them on my Open STI and my Rimfire Open Buckmark but thats it.
G T
They are legal in limited division for uspsa also.
