56hawk
Is there any way to add a racker to the slides below? The distance from the breach face to the rear lightening cut is 0.260, 0.480 and 0.600 respectively.
kneelingatlas
I don't think you can use a dove tail type racker, but you could bolt one with a flat to the rear (although it wouldn't look very sexy). What about drilling and taping the side of the slide right above the firing pin channel?
56hawk
What about drilling and taping the side of the slide right above the firing pin channel? That might work. Hate the idea of having to unscrew it every time I need to clean the gun. Wonder if I could dove tail it through the firing pin channel and then just cut a relief in the racker to clear the firing pin.
Steve RA
I'd think you might be able to dovetail one in behind the ejection port on the bottom two slides. Just check for the one with the most narrow width cut required and see if there would be enough left for support.

rhebert
All 3 can be done the bottom 2 with normal narrow cuts the top with a shallow cut chelly's will work with some narrowing of the racker Rick
56hawk
How shallow of a cut are you talking? There is only 0.115 material above the firing pin channel.
Aircooled6racer
Hello: The bottom 2 are not problem with either the Shooters Connection or a Brazos. The other one you could use a post that screws into the side of the slide. Thanks, Eric
rhebert
0.040 to 060 would work, its a dovetail i do 060 on rackers all the time
bpowe
I've seen a few with a racker dovetailed in infront of the ejection port. Not an ideal solution... Edited September 19, 2014 by bpowe
spraynpray
The top one is probably a no behind the breech face any way you slice it. The standard slide racker dovetail is .360" at the bottom and ~.187" at the top. The bottom one, I would have no hesitation about doing and the middle I would probably try if it were mine. I typically do .150" deep dovetails for rackers to have plenty of engagement (EGW sidewinder). Edited September 25, 2014 by spraynpray
