How should you sight in your pistol, off the bench or free style. We were discussing this the other day. One opinion is that if you use the bench, any errors that you now have in free style shooting can be traced to improper technique. Because the pistol is dead on, and you have taken out most of the human error. The other thought is that you shoot freestyle groups and if the groups are not where you want them you adjust accordingly.

I sight in free hand. That the way I shoot it, and that's the way I want the bullets to hit.

I've found with some guns, there are inches of difference between bench and free style point of impact, even when both groups are really tight.

Use the bench to get it really close and then shoot a bunch freehand. I see slight differences (especially in revos) with POI because the recoil absorbtion of my hands/arms/elbows laying on the wooden cross brace is not the same as when I am free standing in a two-hand hold. Bottom line is to fine tune the sights how and where you will be shooting the gun. I even see slight differences between the dark range (bad lighting) and the well lit one.
