G34 trigger spring question

I have Glockworx's competition spring kit (3lb striker spring, extra power trigger spring, reduced power plunger spring) along with their skeletonized striker and race connector in all my competition Glocks. I've been using this set up for a few years and really like it. Today I decided to put my OEM trigger spring back into my G34 to see how much heavier the trigger would be with the OEM spring vs. Glockworx extra power spring. And from what I have always read and believed was that and extra power trigger spring it supposed to lighten the trigger opposed to a factory spring. However, when I tried the trigger after switching the springs out the trigger actually seemed a bit lighter. Not by much, but it seemed noticeable. The glockworx spring I had in my 34 only had about 500 or so rounds through it because I recently just replaced it with a new one, so thinking the spring was simply overused does not really explain this.

Anyone else experience this or have an idea about it? Thanks

Measure it with a trigger gauge not your finger to see if it's a diff. GLOCK triggers are just what the shooter perceives as good. Glockworks spring isn't a 3lb it just says 3lb because that is the projected pull weight with that spring. They simply have a reduced and standard power spring and they are even subject to perception that two of the same spring feel different. The heavy trigger spring is thought to pull back on the trigger bar more albeit very minimally over the factory which is around 5lb verses stated 6lb with the others. Now in a Gen4 GLOCK the heavy trigger springs do not work very well causing failure to reset of the cruciform.

Bottom line is it's all in what YOU think feels better. Springs are only part of the puzzle of a GLOCK trigger. In the kits I do I use the XP trigger spring in the Gen1/2/3 and standard trigger spring for ALL Gen4s.

What he said and the GW 3.0# firing pin spring is comparable to a Wolff 4.0# firing pin spring.

My experience is that not all springs are created equal regardless of the manufacturer and what their specs say. When tested they will fall into a pass/fail range during QC. Best to buy in bulk so you can pick and choose springs when doing trigger jobs. Some aftermarket trigger springs are too strong and will not allow the trigger to reset properly for example.

I run the full zev tech standard and ultimate in multiple glock pistols I have found that the trigger springs make a very small difference to the trigger usually only resulting in a half pound to a full pound reduction. The firing pin spring will have a much bigger impact on pull weight which I'm sure you've noticed before. The combos i like the most are the zev reduced power spring with the oem trigger spring. I also like the glockmeister reduced power spring with the zev trigger spring.

The trigger spring just adds a touch more tension it really does nothing for the trigger. I can swap out springs and it changes nothing at the pull gauge at my bench. The striker spring does change things

I will say that that increased tension DOES cause problems for the Gen4s and I will not use the XP trigger springs in a Gen4 kit.

What problems does it cause in Gen4's? What people need to remember is that no matter how good the manufacturer of the spring is, no two springs are exactly the same.

an XP trigger spring helps you as it puts tension on the trigger. However, too much tension in combination with say a ghost rocket connector, 4lb striker spring may not allow the trigger safety to reset. It's a good idea to have several springs to find the right combination.

I put the zev competition spring set, v4 race connector and rounded safety plunger in my g34, one part at a time to see what would make the most difference. I found the striker spring to have the most impact on trigger pull. The downside.... Light strikes on harder primers. Fixed that with softer primers. When all was said and done, I left all the new components in EXCEPT the trigger spring. The trigger felt and functioned better with the OEM spring.
