Hello all,

I'm new to the forums and have a question I can't find and answer for. Can I use my duty gun with weapon mounted light (Glock 22) in my duty holster (Safariland 6360 ALS) at Rockcastle 3gun this year? I've searched the net for two days and found the LE exception for level 1 matches and read the posts here but still not clear on the answer. Can anyone help a brother out here?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums! Where are you in ohio? There are a number of good pistol matches in the Cincy area and many of us hang out on here as well.

Don't know about 3gun because so many rules can be different but you can not have a flashlight mounted on a gun except in OPEN division in USPSA.

Good luck.

Canton....the anal sphincter of NE Ohio. I've been competing on the local levels for about 25 years, but recently tried my hand at the National Patrol Rifle competition in Detroit and did fairly decent. That experience gave me the boost needed to try a "big" shoot and get into Rockcastle.

In June I'm looking forward to being at your place for the Police Olympics.

The RM or Match Director for that match can advise you. Welcome to Ohio.

I think I heard about that. The police and fire games or something like that right?

Correct Sarge.

The match directors have a full week of good stuff lined up!.

Being a veteran, you too are eligible to compete in the games. I'm on the state board of directors for the Ohio Police and Fire Games and the board voted to allow ALL veterans (with proof of honorable discharge on DD214) to compete in any of the 25+ events starting this year.

Seeing how I'm a FNG here and still learning to navigate the site, feel free to put it in the correct thread where it belongs if at all. I don't have privileges to post links so just google "the ohio police and fire games" and all the information is there.

popo, there are a couple USPSA matches fairly close to you. You might want to go to the USPSA site and check out the club finder function. There are also one farther away in Hartsgrove (N. on 534) and an IDPA at Youngstown Rifle and Pistol Club.

Welcome from Ravenna the armpit of NE Ohio!

The shooting events are probably the biggest draw of participants with around 80 for the week. I ran them in '05, '09, '12 and the guys seemed to have a great time. The brackets are broken down by age groups instead of classifications, but there are still some guys who are hard as nails and rock the courses. I tried to keep it simple yet challenging and utilized a shoot house at Alliance PD two of the years. The Claremont county Sheriff's office is the host agency this year and we will be shooting at the Miami valley rifle/pistol club. The match directors have a great week planned with PPC, Bullseye, combat pistol (IDPA style), pistol steel challenge, tactical rifle, sniper rifle, big/small bore, and a "multi-gun" challenge" (the club doesn't allow a traditional 3-gun so it is modified where each shooting bay is single weapon only)

It should be a blast!.

Welcome aboard officer.

This maybe one of the best forums around for competition shooting,

and a lot of fantastic people on here that can help with decisions on specific guns and shooting platforms.

Adjust your chair and make sure you have a pot of coffee and a few donuts at the ready, ( sorry about that ).

The best of luck, have fun and enjoy yourself

Wecome Popo198,

That Ohio Police and Fire Games thing sounds interesting, not to far from me, and I suppose my DD Form 214 would make me eligible. The pistol events listed are:

PPC/Duty Match

Bullseye

Combat Course

Steel Challenge

Never shot a PPC match, and I don't hear of too many of them going on anymore, might be a good chance to try it!
