nsginc
Hello, I am new to the CZ world and learning. I have a .40 tactical sport CTS and I am wondering about a 9mm conversion. Is it just a straight barrel and mag swap? Thank you for your time.
kneelingatlas
Yes, I've shot it like that, but not many rounds. Gigglemonkee has his set up that way and he has some rounds down the pipe at this point, you should ask him.
Gigglemonkee
mine has been like that and I have about 5k down the pipe without an issue. I also lightened the slide and put in an 8 lb spring and it runs flawless.

alma
Does it work then other way around (9 to 40)?
Gigglemonkee
Does it work then other way around (9 to 40)? no, the slide port and the extractor are smaller on the 9. you can go from 40 to 9 easy, but 9 to 40 is not doable.
Gigglemonkee
Perfect, is there any place I can order online? Thank you I got mine from cz custom when I ordered some other parts. kneelingatlas fitted the barrel for me in about 10 minutes and it has not had an issue since. I have since polished the feed ramp on it.
02doooce
Gigglemonkey - with the TS converted to 9mm, are you running that in Limited Minor?
Gigglemonkee
Gigglemonkey - with the TS converted to 9mm, are you running that in Limited Minor? I can run it in limited minor or major. The barrel will take major loads just fine. It is the same one used in the czechmate. I made it into an open gun now, like my avatar and have shot major loads out of it without problem. When you originally ran it in Limited, did you just have a thread protector on it. Or something else like the sight tracker front part for the czechmate when you run with the sights instead of the comp?
RNA
Whoa, I had no idea! So it would be more of a value to get the .40 cal version of the TS over the 9mm since it has the potential to run both calibers? If that's the case, in totally reconsidering my future purchases. Does it run 9mm as accurately and as reliably as the factory 9mm version?

The czechmate has the barrel threaded and the end of slide chopped and threaded and fit to go on. Thats how it was converted from the TS from what I have talked to CZ about. Plus I got my ts in 40 for about 1k so With the barrel it was the same price as buying a 9mm one that is hard to find.
RNA
Interesting, I would think that more people would go that route. So some barrel fitting is required to drop a 9mm barrel into a .40 TS?
kneelingatlas
The new factory barrels need to be fit at the breech face, but a used 9 barrel will drop right in a 40 slide.

DeerfieldCurly
Any reason this would not work for SP01?
kneelingatlas
Do you have a .40 SP01? I've never seen one; but yes, it will work the same way.
DeerfieldCurly
I know where I can get one, it is actually a SP01 Tactical.
Gigglemonkee
Any reason this would not work for SP01? it also worked on a cz75 compact in40, a 40b and a cz75b in 40.
SufferInSilence
That would make a sick little conversion for steel challenge matches. I'm going to have to look into that.
nsginc
Good to know about the same could be done with the SP01 .40 I was able sse one here in cali before the end of the year.
bigdave24
I would also be interested if the conversion is truly as reliable as the 9 mm pistol. Are the extractors the same in both the .40 and 9 mm? If the slide ports are different will it eject the same without sometimes stove piping? kneelingatlas
Different extractors, different breech faces: http://shop.cz-usa.com/SearchByKeyword?word=04200663
