  1. @HOGRIDER @RJH yeah my agency has TLR-1s on sig compact 320s. After one range session the glass was destroyed form carbon, heat, build up. It looks like old headlights and doesn’t come off without scratching the glass. Now our gun lights all shine a faint haze on everything. So, I think that underbite might have been a strategic play by Trijicon. I wish someone would make the frame with a slight bill (like a hat) to ward off a bit of direct sun. I’ve been working in a clip-on bill made from Kydex to solve that on those early morning direct sun matches (like frost proof).
  2. No, if anything, the underbite that the SRO has around the glass stops the glass from getting full of carbon from that silly chamber indicator cutout in the barrel hood. the carbon will build up on the optic fast, too! It would be nice to see that notch go away in future revisions of the gun.
  3. This is another build. I have a lot of detail in the previous pages on them. I have the 5” and a 4.25” now And after shooting them both for a while, I still prefer the 4.25”. It’s a bit more nimble, slightly better balanced, and has a shorter cycling stroke. Im getting about 10-11 power factor more out of the 5” Don’t get me wrong, the 5” is nice too. The point is, if you’re going to get a matching set (for a backup for matches etc.) get a true matching pair, get used to one and rock on.
  4. Anything really. Just interested in How it looks. Do you shoot major with it? I typically shoot locals with really spicy minor (yes declares minor at registration haha) and bump up the powder for a match I wanna place high in. does it work well with major PF?
  5. Anyone have any pics of the 2 port comp on a gun? I have one being fitted by my smith now.
  6. @jim vaughan I sent it off for a new barrel/comp so, I’ll have an update whoever that happens. Sounds expensive though.
  7. *UPDATE* -Soaked the comp in 50-50 peroxide/vinegar. -Scraped “everything” out. -9mm reamed the bore of the comp. This tightened up the terrible left/right spread but with each shot, the group climbed up. This happened “every time” and was worse the hotter the barrel got. Threw in the 38SC barrel to rule out any frame, slide, mount, dot issues. 38SC ran fine so, it seems the 9mm barrel is just clapped out.
  8. You don’t even make sense. You are still literally the one that keeps bringing up production division. This thread is whether or not a TR is legal in CO. **NOT PRODICTION** But… considering that sh!t smoothie between your ears wants to complain about it so much, her goes: - Per the screen shot you posted, the Canik Rival S meets the production list. - This fact is annotated in the latest rule book (yeah, the one you cherry pick your information from) since February 2023. - Because you wanna complain off topic about production so much, “NO” you cannot have a TR on a production gun because it’s specifically not allowed in that division. <end, stop, period> Everyone else that plays the sport knows this, catch up! - Nothing in the App, specifically prohibits a TR for CO division as long as the “grip is not >>>modified to create<<< one! Go back and you-yourself read the ‘criteria’ you’re complaining about. - The Rival-S was manufactured, NOT “modified” to “create” one. - The rule book even says that the Caniks made from the factory with slide rackers, and magwells, are to be removed for CO. Hint: because they are “specifically prohibited” for CO. ((makes no mention of the thumb rest)) Do you think they reviewed the gun for the list and didn’t realize there was a TR attachment??? C’mon…! - If your still not convinced (which frankly I don’t care) Go to just about any match from central Florida to east Texas (at least from what I’ve seen so far) and let them all know you are bumping them to Open division for their TR…. Oh wait… your not the match director…? Don’t worry, no one will be shooting that division for much longer then, you can be the champ over everyone that doesn’t have a TR either.
  9. Clown… no one EVER said you can have the TR on a production division gun! Your literally the one that keeps crying about Production rules…
  10. Bro… the Rival-S is on the production list has been since FEB ‘23. Think whatever you want. I’ve seen “NO ONE” bumped out in CO so far for having a TR on a Rival S. Doesn’t matter though. CO is about to be as dead as Production and L10 soon anyway specifically because of dumb asz rule interpretations like we are bickering about. CO was only relevant because LO didn’t exist yet.
  11. @IVC @broadside72 read my post again. No where do I say say the thumb rest is legal for production division. Actually the app specifically say they are “not” allowed for production. The thread is called “Carry Optics thumb rest”. Production is dead…and not even a 15 round capacity is going to save that boring division. However, in CO you can have a thumb rest. I have them, the current natz champ has them, and most every gamer I know in CO has them. Even/especially Rival S folks. So… neener neener….
  12. Never mind. It’s a Storm Lake barrel. Still, can’t find the right replacement though.
  13. **Anyone recognize this logo/brand?** I’m trying to track down a replacement for this cone barrel. It’s measuring about 4.75 (4 3/4”) from what I can tell. Just don’t know who made or still sticks them. Going test my 38SC barrel tomorrow to see if maybe my 9mm barrel is just shot out. I can say though, the 38SC barrel is much tighter in the slide when I assemble the gun and grab the comp and shake/twist it, there’s little to no play. There’s play in the 9mm barrel when doing this.
  14. Yeah I’m going to put my 38SC barrel in and see how that groups. Then see fro there.
  15. Yeah but even with that gold dot it’s not a good group. Just a better than the worst.
  16. Regardless I’d like to swap the barrel. I’d like to use the same comp but im not bound to that. Anyone know what barrel I need for this thing? It looks like an old cone style which I don’t think is around anymore. It measured 4 3/4 from the chamber hood to the end of the threads inside the comp. anyone know which barrel and/or comp I need?
  17. So, I got everything situated with this gun, (new mount, new dot). Accuracy is STILL complete trash!! Like… (15 yards, from a bench, using bean bags) - Factory training ammo is shifty and inconsistent. - Speer Gold Dot was much better but that’s not saying much for 15y off a bench and bag. - My 172pf reloads seemed to exaggerate the inaccuracies a lot more. Anyone think the barrel may be shot out too?
  18. So, the NROI letter mentioned above is from 2019, a lot including pistol designs and nomenclature have changed a little since then. Yes, 21.4 does in fact say that “grips” cannot be modified to create a thumb rest. - e.g. This means shaving down, melting, or adding material (like JB weld) to the lower frame/grip to create upon the existing surface of the of the grip, a thumb rest. Now, clearly, common sense reading of App 7 shows the context to refer separately to “grips” and “grip panels” as a potentially cohesive combination, therefore obviously denoting the lower half of the pistol as the “grip”. These defining terms which, cover guns from CZ style with removable grip panels to plastic fantastics such as Glocks, XD, M&P etc… Cool, im fine with all that. Now my argument is in the case of the Canik Rival-S. The rule says the grip cannot be “modified to create” a thumb rest. The Rival’s grip is not “modified”… it’s created and specifically designed for it. Canik even offers an OFM/OEM thumb rest for that non-modified (factory created) area. Therefore it’s not a ‘creation’ rather, an intentional design. Just as no slide lightening and slide ports are allowed in production, the Canik Rival has them and is still on the approved production list because they were intentionally manufactured with them. Similarly, the Ghost Hydra holster cannot honestly be considered “suitable for everyday use” with Race Gun holsters being specifically prohibited. Yet… here they are in CO & Production because of a band of intentionally placed Kydex. So I’d say in the case of most guns it boils down to yes as long as it’s a takedown lever style implement. Or in the case of the Canik Rival, intentionally designed for it. It’s really going to depend on what Gun it is, which argument you can make, and what prick is determined to bump you to Open for it.
  19. @whan Exactly! One key issue is how CO mutated into basically poor man’s open minor. There is nothing “carry” oriented about a 40-56oz gun w/23 round mags, magnetic mag pouches, brass grips etc. It doesn’t matter that they kept the holster an almost normal style. Hell, even that’s gone, now that the Ghost Hydra P is out. Limited Optics is a natural evolution to the sport considering how 2011s, speed holsters, and all the other cool guy gear has been a norm in stuff like Open, Limited, L10, for decades. And… it doesn’t delusion itself as being a “carry” oriented event. I feel more than confident running either of these guns in Limited Optics. (And I do) But I don’t kid myself into thinking I’d “carry” that 56oz Canik anywhere. But if they stay 2 separate divisions I have no issue with taking the magwell off my Canik and bruising a few egos.
  20. From what I saw in mine, the rear-right-side corner of the magazine hits the start of the relief channel slowing the cycle down a bit, as it drags along the slide until it hits its next speed bump (the FP block cutout), continues to drag more until it hits the breech face and either has lost too much speed to overcome the hard corner of the breech face, or losses enough speed along the way to overcome the constant friction of the slide or one of the “speed bumps” of the other two cutouts along the way. One person above pointed out his newer one having a deeper relief channel. I’ll bet that greatly reduces feeding issues ‘fingers crossed’. I’ll run a few matches with mine and update. Maybe this is the DIY fix we’ve all been looking for.
  21. Tonight I took a diamond rasp (from a harbor freight mini file kit) and deepened that channel about .02 or so and filed in a slight chamfer to the chipped areas. Then I smoothed it out with a Dremel wire wheel and cut a Q-tip in half, put that in the Dremel and polished the channel to a mirror shine. Finally, I covered the area with a red sharpie marker, assembled and racked it several dozen times with each mag to see if it wore any of the marker off. It did not! Fingers crossed, I don’t see any feeding issues moving forward. just remember to remove your extractor and FP block if you try this so they don’t get all gritty.
  22. it’s heavier than my open gun for sure. I think it’s the heaviest pistol I have period.
