New to rifle reloading !!!!!!
This is what I want to do;
I want to work up a long range load while breaking in a new barrel at the same time?
This is what I have;
New 223 AR upper gunsmith built with a 18" white oak barrel 1:7 twist with a JP comp.
Nolser 77 grain bullets
New - Nosler Custom Reloading Brass 223 Remington
Federal Premium Gold Medal Small Rifle Match Primers #205M
two scales, cabalas digital and RCBS balance
Varget Powder
Plan;
Start with 20 Grains of Varget (5 loads), 21 Grains of Varget (5 loads), 22 Grains of Varget (5 loads), 23 Grains of Varget (5 loads), 24 Grains of Varget (5 loads), 25 Grains of Varget (5 loads).
Results; Broken in barrel and confident the loads are safe up to 25 Grains.
Any help or comments would be appreciated ?
Thanks,

I wouldn't waste the time with the 20, 21, 22 grains. And a WOA should be pretty close to ready to rock out of the box. I would load a few closer to what you are looking for as far as a load and shoot a few and see how the barrel cleans up. If it looks pretty good after 15-20 rounds I would go for it. I wanna say 24 grains was a good load for me, but it's been a while since I shot 77's.
