  1. I have the same issues with my Gen 3 mags. They simply would not work over 30% of the time with my minor PF 147’s when loaded to 23+1. I started loading a factory 115 in the barrel followed with my 147’s and now it works fine at the start. Also, my TTI springs quit locking the slide back on 3 of my mags after just a few thousand rounds. I just bought ISMI 140mm springs to see how they work. I’ve installed them but haven’t shot with them yet. My followers would clearly be bellow the top of the mag with the TTI springs.
  2. The minimum is what will put the gun in battery and keep it there. You go up from there and most of it is subjective based on what you like and how your perceive the recoil cycle.

    downside to MOS?

I have not but it doesn’t seem like a structural part. I think you’ll be fine.
  4. Since that post I’ve discovered that the gun works fine if I start with a factory 115 at about 133 PF in the barrel and 23 of my 147’s in the mag. There were several 22-24 round stages at my last local and I started this way with no issues. I’m in the process of loading my last 1000 147’s then I’m switching to 125 BBI’s. I’m not sure how much of the problem is bullet weight vs PF but I needed to switch to coated bullets for cost savings so the time seemed right. A side note is that most of the mags aren’t locking the slide back now. I plan to order ISMI 170mm springs to remedy this but haven’t found anyone with 8 in stock yet.
  5. Denato broke it down how I see it also. I know you didn’t ask but Steve’s podcast have really helped me with the mental aspect of USPSA. If you aren’t listening to the podcast then I’d recommend that you start. You can’t beat the price.
  6. Anyone with the Johnny Glock trigger that is also familiar with a nice 1911 trigger care to compare them for me? I’m not sure the issue but I’m just not as happy with my polished G34.5’s trigger as I was with my G34.3. I’m thinking about ordering a trigger.
  7. Yep, I’d say they missed this call. We’re blessed at my local club to have very smart and capable people running and helping to run the show. It would take almost all of the fun out of it to have to deal with some of the situations I read about on this site.
  8. I think removing that front sight will get you below the limit.
  9. Production is too close to Limited already. Higher mag capacity would only make that worse. If Production dries up at 10 rounds then it’ll be because of the loosening of the rules and not the lo-cap.
  10. I really like the Bluetooth in the Peltor 500’s. I use when running any power equipment and listen to music. I also have the 3M gel pads on both my pairs of 500’s. You just peel them off the factory plate and stick them in the 500’s
  11. It can be done other ways but I’d buy a pin vise. It has so many uses throughout life.
  12. Few people would buy the Shadow 2 specifically for Limited because there are better options for the similar money. Those people where probably either practicing for a different sport that has a different capacity or just having fun at a local without a lot of care about winning. You can be pretty competitive at many local matches shooting minor. The difference starts to show when the “heat” shows up hot with major PF pistols. Minor is simply not competitive when someone can hose targets without fear of Charlie’s.
  13. Longer barrel makes more PF. This could be important if you load for multiple guns and don’t want 2 loads.
  14. I’ve always found it odd that the people who tell us that we are wrong when we say 3.5 lb connector will happily admit 4.5 lb isn’t accurate either but for some reason the 3.5 lb wording triggers them.
  15. I thought the system uses the 6 most recent scores for initial classification. This would only count the classifier match scores ignoring the previous scores. Then the classifier match scores are ranked in descending order so the classification would be (90+80+70+60)/4. Of course, I’m probably missing something.
  16. I may be wrong but won’t you loose the chamber coating? I know we’ve had uncoated chambers for centuries and it probably won’t ever hurt anything but it would bother me. It would also bother me to have to get rid of the rifle. Not a good situation. Good luck.
  17. I know nothing about this subject but shouldn’t the case gauge find a long shoulder or anything else above the maximum spec?
  18. Yep, thanks for taking the time to post this information. Is it common to try to capture fired bullets to verify that there are no reloading issues? I had not thought of that possibility before. I’ve just ordered 7000 125 gr BBI’s and these will be my first coated bullets. I’ve been loading JHP’s and I’m both excited and worried about moving to the BBI’s but I’ve got to figure out a way to reduce cost or reduce rounds fired. I’m got to try the cheaper bullets first.
  19. I have several interesting things to report. I switched the new mag tubes I had bought specifically for the +5/6 base pads with my older non-ambidextrous tubes that I'd been using for production and it was definitely easier to load the 23rd round. I had high hopes when I went to the range yesterday that it would be better. It did seem better because the fired case always left the gun but it still would not push the round out of the mag. I then chrono'd my ammo and averaged 129 PF with 3.95 gr of Unique and the 147 gr Zero JHP's. I then went 5 for 5 with a functioning 23+1 configuration with the first round being WWB 115 gr and 5 for 5 at 23+1 with the first round being Federal 115 gr FMJ. I then tried the 147's with my old Gen 3 34 and it worked also at 23+1. I guess this means that I'm just on the borderline with this Gen 5 pistol with my current load. I didn't pay attention to which brand it was but the factory ammo averaged 133 PF for the 3 rounds I shot through the chrono. I'm not too concerned now that I know how to make it work but I do plan to switch to a more mainstream powder and coated bullets so I can hopefully continue to afford to shoot. That last 8,000 JHP order is sadly almost gone. This experience makes me lean toward either 124's or 135's. Hopefully whatever I settle on will work with the topped off mags. I still plan to buy a backup pistol soon so I won't have to quit after a dot failure and would have already bought another G34 if I hadn't held that X5 Legion the other day. I've already bought the parts to duplicate the current G34.5. If I get another Glock it'll be interesting to see if it behaves differently.
  20. I recently bought 2 of the extended factory versions (8794) and wish it was a little longer. Mine is in a Gen 5 gun but I think that part of the frame is identical. I need more time with the gun to see if this is an issue for me. There doesn’t appear to be any great options that are plastic.
