FullMetalJacket
Anyone load this powder for .40?? Ran dry on 231 and I'm trying some of this... Looking for input Thanks
mwx40x40
Check with other resources as my load is a little on the high end side, but I have been loading 5.8grs under 180 CMJ MG at 1.185" making 176 PF out of 5" STI. I see others reporting making Major with less of this powder. Mine is a very old lot number and like most powders you have lot to lot variation. Of course if you do a search on here , you will find plenty WSF data in 40s&w
MarkCO
Only powder I use for .40. At 1.135" under a Berry's 180, 5.4 gets 169 PF out of the G35.

FullMetalJacket
Wow.. Lots of feedback, Ty... I was under the impression it was a new ish powder... Is everyone loading heavy bullets for less recoil, or easier to make PF with them?
Brenden
I like the heavier bullet with this powder because, it seems to push rather than snap. I hope that makes sense, I'm able to follow my sights all the way through the recoil pulse.

pbcaster45
I've been working with it in my Glock 35. I'm still working on getting my PF down to 170 - almost there (5.4 grs might do it!) jcc7x7
I use WSF in both the 9mm minor and 40 Major 9mm 122-125 lead 4.2 grs and get 129-131 pf depending on the bullet, 4.6gr with jacketed 125 either HAP's or MG's get 130 PF 40 180gr jacketed 170 Pf is .3ths different in two different 5" bbls so I'm not gonna give yo the amt. Start mid range on the Hodgdon website and get the chrono out to make sure. I live in the north east and havn't had any problems with temp. sensitivity BUT the temp only moved 10 to 20 degrees during the summer. Good shooting P.S. I worked the 40 loads up during the summer and those two guns are like that with every powder I've used, so its not the powder but the guns
Tim/GA
Nope, it is an old shotgun powder. Nothing fancy and new, just reliable. I like it because it does well in 40 from minor to major. I like 180grn for major as it is less snap than the 165grn loaded to major. That said, I like to use 165grn for minor as I cannot get the 180s down below 140PF or so before it feels sluggish. I just got in some 135 Ranier plated that I am going to play with for minor/steel. 165grn FMJ loaded to 1.135 gave me 5.2grn 143PF and 5.0grn 133PF 180grn FJM loaded to 1.135 5.6grn 169PF Mainly I shoot Bayou Bullets cast/polymer coated for major now 1.135 OAL 180grn TC 5.3grn was 174PF at Area 6 chrono. 5.2grn seems to be giving me 169PF so sticking there. Note the major difference between the FMJ and cast/polymer.
