Chris Keen
We all know that Kalifornia has a list of "approved" guns, and that any magazine over 10 rounds is verboden! But what about ammunition? I have a friend who wants to ship some ammo to a family member in the Golden State and I told him I'd check it out first. So, besides the obvious ORM-D labels, what do you all think?
Religious Shooter
Do you really want to know? What kind of ammo is it? What city does the family member live in?
Chris Keen
.223 Ammo. I'll ask what city it is.
ChuckS
There could be some local restrictions but I know of no state restrictions other than tracers. I have received pistol, shotgun and rifle (.223) ammo multiple times without issue.
lumpygravy
I order from (and have received) Atlanta Arms and DC Ammo - no problems. I don't know about private parties though.
warpspeed
We all know that Kalifornia has a list of "approved" guns, Not really and that any magazine over 10 rounds is verboden! Again, not really. But what about ammunition? I have a friend who wants to ship some ammo to a family member in the Golden State and I told him I'd check it out first. So, besides the obvious ORM-D labels, what do you all think? No tracer or incendiary ammo. The only city that has a restriction is Los Angeles. LA county is fine - City of LA not. Ming the Merciless
I don't know whether this applies to private individuals or only for sale of ammo. Here is a link to Cheaper Than Dirts shipping restrictions http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/restrictions.aspx?sku=AKS-
Graham Smith
Loaded ammunition? I think you do need an ORM-D label.
Chris Keen
Thanks Graham! Got it. (see the original post) And thanks Ming, that was VERY helpful!
JimmyZip
Wow interested on this as I get ammo all the time.
Religious Shooter
Yeah, that CTD listing isn't 100% accurate.
bountyhunter
No Kali state laws against mailing in ammo as of today, but that is the one thing they are about to shut down. They want to greatly restrict ammo sales by limiting licensed sale outlets, requiring background checks for ammo purchase, and also implement state fees on ammo sales. As of today, not yet. But we have a dem governor and the state legislature is about 65% democratic so the laws are coming. I believe the ammo must be labeled ORM-D, you probably have to disclose to the carrier shipping it (they may have their own restrictions) Edited February 9, 2013 by bountyhunter
