RippSpeed
I was thinking of having my favorite local gunsmith build one in 9mm Major for me ... Why isnt there a LongSlide open guns out there ???
ogiebb
because with a 6" slide and a compensator ... that would be considered a rifle it might be a tad too long and hard to transition. although some folks dont use a comp and just use the 6" tri Brid that scheumann has.. GrumpyOne
Too heavy, Too much to transition from target to target, no real advantage in site distance (open = dot, so it doesn't matter how long the slide is), no recoil reduction (comped guns). Short guns transition quicker, weigh less, cycle quicker, etc.
mda
What Grumpy said. One reason I do not think there is much of an advantage with a 6 inch limited gun other then the long sight radius. Kind of why the shorty open was developed, lighter faster slide, and quicker transitions. mda
diehli
Uh, yeah... that's why a lot of the 6" guns built for this game have the slides lightened quite a bit and use a skinny or fluted barrel. Extended sight radius and no weight issue.
Aircooled6racer
Hello: We have a local shooter that has a 6" hybrid barreled 38SC open pistol with no comp on the end. He has a Doctor sight mounted on the slide and uses it for 3-gun also. He shoots it very well but it does not shoot as flat as some of the other open pistols. It may be his load since he uses 147 grain bullets. Thanks, Eric
