tbarker13
In IDPA, I shoot a CZ 75 Shadow in ESP. Just not yet comfortable with the double-action first shot - so I haven't attempted the move to production. For USPSA, I'm really wanting to shoot limited, but don't want to do minor. So, I'm looking at an Edge or Eagle for my USPSA shooting. I'm wondering how much (if any) that's going to hurt me as I go from one to the other. Mike21STI
If you go with the eagle, you can use that as your ESP gun too
tbarker13
If you go with the eagle, you can use that as your ESP gun too I've been thinking about that. (though I do love shooting the 75 Shadow) I actually prefer the look of the Eagle over the Edge. But I find myself thinking the extra weight of the Edge would come in handy for recoil control. Parallax3D
My main competition guns are 1911s but I also shoot a Glock when I don't feel like loading ammo. Keep finding myself trying to lift the safety on after loading the Glock I started competing with a 1911 in L10, then switched to a Glock in .40 for Limited and then Open. I too found myself trying to go for the non-existent thumb safety on the Glock, at least for a short time. Now, it's no problem. I carry a 1911, but I've been competing with the Glock, and made B in Open in about 7 months with it, so I guess it's not that big of a deal to switch back & forth. Iggy42
My personal preferance is 1911s, but do to budget.....issues I recently bought a 5.25 XDm for USPSA Limited. I would much rather be using a 2011 platform (Caspian framed, I like the feel of steel), but for the cost of a nice 2011 I can have my XDm up and running with mags and holster. I am hoping to convice the wife to let me spend my bonus (should I get one) next year on a custom 2011 provided I have my commander length 1911 for concealed carry by then (hoping to get a Les Baer Monolith Commanche or a NHC T3 Comp). Basically I need to hit the lotto get some crazy beginners luck at the casino, but hey a guy can dream.
Revopop
For a little while, I only had 1911s and revolvers. Then I got an M&P cause it was threaded and I'd just bought a 9mm can, then I got a CZ cause it was a good deal, and I'm sure I'll get more varieties. In competition though, I learned long ago not too switch back and fourth between platforms. 6-12 months at a time is a good length of time. I shot one match with a super sweet SV Limited gun that I'd bought, but after shooting revolvers and single stacks for a few years, the Limited gun felt like cheating. All those shots before having to reload? Bigass magwell? Long dust cover for recoil control? Too easy.
Jammer1911
I am a 1911 SSTK fan (Own 10 of the little buggers). I have a Para 16-40 Limited(1911 Style) for Limited Division. I have no desire to try Open and thought about Production for a real brief time. Then I remembered the ol' saying, "Beware the man that only has one gun, he probably knows how to use it". Go with what you enjoy to shoot and stick with the platform. And practice practice practice.
GunBugBit
I shoot only 1911s in matches. It's the only type of gun I've shot for the past 4 months. A current goal is to beat the kid who is shooting a 9mm Range Officer and doing very well, in fact he is dominating single stack in the Thursday night matches. If I can beat him with a .45 1911, I'll feel darn good about that.

GunBugBit
Some of us can do a thing again and again and not get burned out by it, others need more variety. We're all different.
ogiebb
Good for you guys , I envy you after shooting IPSC and USPSA for about 19 years straight I can not stay at 1 platform or division.
