bmiller
Would there be an advantage to running a rifled slug barrel , instead of a smooth bore? I thought it would help alot on the slug targets, and patterns would be adequate on the close ones. Has anyone tried this? Thanks
oak hill
Have you tried light shot loads at popper or heavy steel that needs to be KD?
D.Hayden
Good slugs shoot so well out of smooth bore barrel, I doubt there's a need A lot depends on the shooter.. but I've seen incredibly small groups at 75+ yards with the good quality slugs. RiggerJJ
Birdshot pattern size at 10yds with a rifled barrel will be about 6 feet, so no, a rifled barrel isn't the way to go... .jj Edited October 18, 2011 by RiggerJJ
TRUBL
Rifled barrel for 3 gun would be a no go......seen a guy use one..once, just once. At 10 yards the shot pattern went around the clay bird. No shot in the center of the pattern. Infact....he was hitting the bird next to the one he was aiming at. Yeah.....huge pattern; no center. Needless to say, he wasn't knocking down many poppers either. Tim

We didn't know it at first and we couldn't understand why he was unable to put down a popper even at close range. When we checked the shotgun after, we saw that it had a rifled barrel. He shot the rest of the match with someone else's shotgun.

EkuJustice
Set the gun up for the Shot and make due on the slugs. Shot is used much more frequently than slugs. Im confident with with mine out to around 50yards with the slugs and a bead sight for an alpha. In reality, as long as you can keep it in the A/C zone your fine. glazer1972
Shot doesn't shoot worth a flip from a rifled barrel.
