rupture
Who can do this kind of work? Should any machine shop be able to handle this? Should they be able to bend the tabs for a basepad to slide on? Or do we have a forum sponser that can do it?
shooterbenedetto
As far as i know, its not easy. Goal is not have a smooth transition of 2 mags on the inside and have a very sharp neat cut of the mags. good luck and keep us posted. Gunsmths charge 125 and up! shooterbenedetto
Base pad will cost you more. Just put 2 together, cut the mag and weld the bottom part with the tabs. Then use a plate and spring plate holder.
rupture
Trying to run the ribs all the way down to the plate, can't do that if I use the bottom of a mag
G-ManBart
Jim Anglin (Sailors Custom Pistols) comes to mind. R,
Seth
I've done it and its HARD. The weld work isn't bad, but get the tubes to not twist is difficult. The inside have to be ground and polished for them to work. Honestly, I wouldn't do it again without a substantial jig that could be used to reshape them after welding. shooterbenedetto
If that tube moves, say goodbuy to your good feeding mags! I would leave it for the PROS!
Aircooled6racer
Hello: Why not make a forming die and form the ribs down to the bottom It is not that hard to do. Thanks, Eric
DrawandDuck
Is this for STI/SV mags and are you just trying to get the ribs down to bottom of tube to prevent the follower from rolling. If so check out forum dealer Magblueprinting.com I sent Adrian new mags after all mine were stolen and as part of his tuning he extended the ribs on the STI tubes to the bottom to prevent this....He did a GREAT JOB!! PINMAN44
I wonder if it could be done to two rescomp tubes to make a substantially high capacity OPEN 40 cal mag?
