BN91205
Hello Everyone, Question regarding Kart barrels. I just purchased an Easy-fit barrel and noticed it was "in-the-white"... does the barrel need to be refinished? I always understood that "in-the-white" meant that corrosion was definitely a factor. Any info would be most appreciated. Thanks, Brian
ParaGunner
I would just polish the top of the hood that's visible through the ejection port and just keep a light coat of oil on the rest.
CSEMARTIN
If you leave it the way it is, it will corrode. I would polish the barrel and bushing. I start with 320 grit aluminum oxide sandpaper, then go with 400 grit and then 800 or 1000 grit sandpaper. I finish with 5-10 micron jeweler's rouge and a dremel. Once it's polished, a light coat of oil will be just fine. Or you can blue it yourself with this: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=1108/Product/OXPHO_BLUE_reg__CREME

pvhendrix
Have a Kart .45 in a gun for over 20 years. Just clean and lube it like the gun and never any sign of rust. Their service is great. About 20-25 years ago a friend had the bottom lug shear after @1500 rnds. He had purchased the barrel at a gun show and had it installed in his IPSC competition gun. When it sheared the gunsmith contacted Kart, and it was sent back. Seems at the time they made barrels for "softball/light wadcutter" rnds and another for hard use. He had bought the "softball" barrel and used it improperly. They replaced it with the correct barrel with no charge.

MTBfarms
I have 2 Kart bbls in a pair of Kimber 9's. They fit so tight and shoot very accurate, I hate to do any polishing or anything to it. I just keep em oiled well.
pjb45
I have a Kart in a gun built by Tripp. It is NOT blued. Works great. Clean it, oil it, and shoot it often.
fastarget
I put an easy-fit in a kimber 3 years ago, no corrosion issues, keep it oiled and it will serve you well. Accuracy is awesome.
