  1. Anyone have the weight on the new Ice Magwell? Would like to know how close it comes to the S&A I currently use. Thanks, Brian
  2. Two-tone finish on my Limited gun with Canyon Creek's TiAIN (or Canyon Blue) on the slide and HC on the frame. I'm liking the Canyon Blue; harder than HC and very attractive.
  3. I played with HS-6 and it is indeed, a very soft load. It is however, very dirty which is why I do not run it through my pistol. From what I've heard, VV is very nice but the availability and pricing keeps me away. No experience with Silhouette and unfortunately it is not as available as others in my neck of the woods. According to what I'v read, Autocomp is clean and a tad softer than my current 7625. I think I'm gonna give it a whirl. Thanks for the input, Brian
  4. Cocobolo - Thanks! That was the input I was looking for. Gonna give it a try.
  5. "I tried the search function and either it is not working or my computer is not allowing me to see anything"... Maybe the software upgrade isn't 100% complete but I'll keep trying. Brian, try the search function, there is so much autocomp info here that it's not worth repeating ... Alan
  6. Hello All, Anyone out there that with IMR7625 and AutoComp experience for 9 Major? I'm running low on 7625 and AutoComp is readily available and less expensive at my local shop. While my "go-to" 7625 is somewhat clean, I find it to be a little on the violent side even through my 5" gun (3-port hybricomp, 2-port comp) with 7.3gr/WSPP/1.175"COAL. Not looking for load data, just an overall report on soft/violent, clean/dirty, temp sensitivity, etc.. I tried the search function and either it is not working (maybe the software upgrade on BE hasn't fully kicked in yet) or my computer is not allowing me to see anything. Any helpful information would be appreciated. Thanks for the info, Brian
  7. Contact Rich at Canyon Creek Custom http://www.canyoncreekcustom.com/ and ask him about his "full-length hi-power cut". He takes material off the sides of the slide but leaves it full width at the rails. Not sure how he'll work it around the factory serrations that come with your Edge but it's worth asking him. Brian
  8. Nevermind, figured it out. Thanks, Brian
  9. I asked them on Facebook and the reply today was it is still in R&D as we speak with no timetable. I don't really need one but I know I wanna buy one for some reason!
  10. Is this through a 5" gun? AutoComp is readily available in my neck of the woods and I'd like to give it a try. Thanks, Brian
  11. Another fan here of the Powderfunnel! Since we are sharing our reloading stages with the LNL AP, here's what I do: 1. Resize/Decap with Hornady die 2. EGW U-Die 3. Hornady Case Activated powder measure with Powderfunnel 4. Seat Bullet with Hornady die 5. Crimp Bullet with Hornady die Brian
  12. No problem. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with lead bullets, I've used FMJ's since I started and haven't had a reason to change. Brian
  13. One thing I read when first getting started on reloading for IPSC was that seating and crimping in seperate stations would be beneficial. Here's what I know; we are not looking for a "crimp" by definition, but more of a flattening of the bell of the case so as to secure the bullet in place without crushing it. The brass I use has an average wall thickness of .012", your brass will vary. The MG 124gr. bullets I use measure at .355". The formula I use is wall thickness [both sides] (.012 X 2) + bullet diameter (.355) = .379". I measure this with calipers at the point where the bell is/was and figure +/-.001". Doing it in seperate stations makes it easier to adjust and maintain the proper "crimp" assuming you heavily scrutinize your competition reloads. Hope this helps as I'm sure some of the more experienced will likely chime in to correct me. Brian
  14. Pro2 is absolutely correct! I had the same problem in my LNL and since I went that route, problem solved. You may also want to check this out as it has made my life simpler as well: http://www.powderfunnels.com/products.html Brian Do your seating and crimping in separate stations.
  15. Anyone try a DARM on a Caspian Hi-cap? I've got one along with a few Para's that have a squared trigger-guard ala Canyon Creek and would love to give this holster a test drive. Based on a few emails I've shared with Saul, my Para's may be out of luck. I figure that there are now a few out there, someone might have had a chance to tinker or find the right model. Thanks, Brian
  16. Hello Everyone, Recently got a hold of some IMR PB powder and heard somewhere (maybe) that folks are using this to make major in 40S&W. Any recommendations (loads, OAL, pros, cons, etc.) you have would be welcomed and appreciated. I'm planning on running them through my 5" Para with 180GR. FMJ bullets. Thanks, Brian
  17. Hello Everyone, Anybody on this forum have experience with the Walker Game Ear Power Muffs? I got a pair of the Quads as a gift and no matter the adjustment, I can't get a seal on it and it's really starting to bug me. Barely got the pair yesterday and the foam that covers the microphones are starting to come off. What gives? Any info would be most appreciated. Thanks, Brian
  18. I sent them an email asking about a time table last friday: Hello, I read recently on the Brian Enos website that you had plans to reintroduce the Para Ice Magwell. I am wondering when you are planning on releasing them back into the market. Looking forward to buying one and trying it out. Thank you, Brian To which they replied early this morning: No, not at this time. There is a regular magwell for Para (see 009-005) Hmmmm, B
  19. Agreed, factory followers are the best for Para mags.
  20. S&A offers two models of magwells for the Para widebodies; one is a drop-in, the other is the full. Drop-in model flares the magazine opening in the rear only. The full, which is ideal for our game, needs a little material removed from the frame and then of course a blend job (usually done with a mill). It includes instructions but I recommend it goes to a gunsmith unless you are 100% absolutely sure you can do it. Brian
  21. Ah Hah! Got it figured out. Thanks guys! Brian
  22. Hey Gang, Just received my CR WSMII holster to be used in Open and had a question regarding the fit of the trigger guard. When the pistol is mounted, there is some obvious play, i.e. the trigger guard is not locked into place - it rocks back and forth almost 3/8". Is this normal? I'm shooting a Para with a squarred trigger guard if it helps. I'm not too familiar with this holster and want to make sure it works properly with my gun. Advice? Suggestions? Return this and get something else? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Brian
  23. This is a tough one for us Para owners/fans. I searched for an Ice for quite some time and came up empty. I agree with you on the nicks in the aluminum ones and prefer the S&A to the DP now. It accepts every manufacturers' basepads and will even allow mags without extentions to seat. I also like the way the S&A balances out the weight of the pistol the way I personally like them to feel. DP's keep them nose heavy which I don't like with my guns. I even replaced the plastic MSH with a heavier one and it still didn't work for me. Only negative to the S&A in my opinion is that it costs $$ to have fit but regardless, I'm using them on all my Paras. Best of luck to you in your search, one is bound to show up sooner or later. B
  24. Cool, thanks guys! Why wait till' next week, gonna start loading right now. I'm gonna reduce the charge being that this is a new primer that I'm using but it looks like everything should be ok once I get things going. Thanks again, Brian
  25. Hey All, I've been using CCI #500 Small Pistol Primers in my 40-Major loads for a while now and ran out last week. I found 10K CCI #400 Small Rifle Primers (SRP is easier to find right now than SPP for some reason) for a great price locally and wanted to know of any pros/cons with this. I tried the "search" feature and saw lots of info on Win and Fed SRP, but nothing on CCI's. Any feedback/info would most definitely be appreciated. Gonna start loading some rounds next week. Cheers, Brian
