  1. Is there any one program that can burn DVD's and pull music from an old iPod to the HDD on the iMac that my wife and I just bought? Since she's a student, we got a new iPod classic that I plan on using to store as much as I can on if/when I get deployed, and I've got a lot of music on an old iPod (and of course the computer that it was all on is long gone...) that I'd like to put on the new one, as well as movies, etc. I was hoping for a one program solution, but there doesn't seem to be one. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!
  2. Big congrats, AMU has some great guys on it!
  3. August 3rd 2009 will always be a day I remember. Not only is it the 5 year anniversary of when my wife and I started dating, it is the day I took an oath to defend the country from all enemies, foreign and domestic as a member of the United States Army as 11X, option 04 (not AMU). There are a lot of factors in my decision to serve, most of them stemming from the fact that we are able to live in a country after less than 250 years of being where our rights to speak out, defend ourselves and a have fair trial by the justice system are recognized, has the most advanced technology, and the best overall living conditions of the world, and to keep it that way, it must be defended. The only downside is that I won’t have a lot of time to compete over the next few years, but I am confident that it will be well worth the time off of the shooting circuit. I ship out to OSUT on 10/28/09 at Ft. Benning as an 11X, and I will begin Airborne training on 3/1/10, also planning on putting in for RIP as soon as I can. I also want to again thank of all my sponsors for their incredible support over the past several years in my shooting career, and their support in this decision. Smith & Wesson Tony Cruz/XTC Aimpoint Tactical Solutions Montana Gold Bullets Starline Brass Safariland Techwear USA GT Targets Rudy Project USA Grams Engineering Speed Shooting Specialties Wish me luck!!
  4. Wouldn't be the same at home, worth going to see without a doubt!
  5. The Safariland 5188 with a spacer or two is the quickest carry type holster that I've found that still holds the gun secure, it's also slightly cant adjustable for those that are inclined to do so.
  6. Works great, the 012 was always one of my faves with the way it held the gun, but never was 100% comfortable without a lock. Now that it's got a lock (which the tension on how hard it is to take on and off is adjustable), it's probably the best holster I've ever run.
  7. I use a Safariland 5188, and I believe Rob does as well, quickest one I've tried so far.
  8. The Tru-bors use a standard 2011 frame, not any type of wide style frame and the TacSol upper will work on either a ramped or non-ramped frame.
  9. Will the awards be held Saturday night after the match or sometime Sunday? TIA
  10. The # I found for them doesn't work... Anybody have good contact info, or know where to get one in mainly 9, but a set of dies in 40 and 45 are desired too. Thanks guys.
  11. With the help of my father-in-law and my friend Clint U, I was able to secure 65K primers over yesterday and today, and should have most of them by the middle or end of April. Thanks so much to all those who came forward to help!!!!
  12. I've spent most of the morning searching for primers... I've only got about 10K left, if I can't find any more, I can't work... This Sucks!!
  13. Dave, After a small adjustment period, is really hasn't been a problem. I've been to the US warehouse for Aimpoint, and was given a rundown of how the sights are made in Sweden, everything in the scope is bullet-proof (and thats not just a claim, they have scopes on display that have been shot, blown-up run, over by 18-wheelers, etc, every single one still works as designed/built). Not a knock on C-More, but to get a dot that is as bright, round and big as an Aimpoint, the dot size has to be twice as big. A 7 MOA CSM looks as big or bigger than a 12 MOA C-More. Ditto on the Micro, the 4 MOA is so bright, it looks like a 8 MOA on my C-More. And I'm going to say it again, since it's a sealed unit, you will NOT have a million different dots on your screen if it starts raining, Aimpoint's are the only scope that can used in any, and I mean any weather conditions you can come up with and the usability of it not degrading at all.
  14. BJ, Who's mount are you using? Got a pic of it? Larry, Right now, I've got several different mounts, one is the Pic rail for my TacSol 2211 conversion, I just got an MC Guns mount for my 1911, but haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, and the last is a little un-traditional. Jerry Miculek and I thought of just about every way to mount a scope on the slide of an M&P and finally settled on milling a flat on the slide and screwing a Pic rail down to it. It seems to be working good right now, I'll post pics once I get the slide bead blasted.
  15. Aimpoint Micro is where it's at! Just started shooting one, I was concerned that the small window and dot might be a problem, but it has turned out to be a non-issue. The thing is so bright that it is easy to pick up no matter the light conditions, and if you're shooting in the rain, the Aimpoint dot will NOT flare if the screen gets wet.
  16. Doug, Glad to hear it's working good for you. Sorry I didn't get back to your PM, I hate that "life gets in the way" stuff sometimes...
  17. +3, Derek and Mike do a great job. Talked to them at SHOT show Derek said the entries were coming in pretty good, you won't want to miss this match!
  18. Are tungsten guide rods and replacement recoil springs allowed?
  19. Check your buffer, if it's one of the older thin plastic style, it's probably chewed up and dragging on the slide. We switched to a much thicker, more rubber type buffer and it seems to be working much better. ETA: +1 to what Chuck said, try some good, quality ammo. I've had some Federal Bulk pack run and great, and some others that wouldn't run for anything.
  20. I made some slight changes to previous selection process used (which are highlighted). To me, this would be an almost perfect way of selecting the teams. USPSA shall use the following method exclusively to select all members of 2011 World Shoot National teams: This policy shall be effective February 1, 2009. This policy shall be applied to USPSA sponsored National Handgun Teams and shall apply to all divisions and/or categories. Nothing in this policy guarantees that USPSA shall name, field, or sponsor any specific National Handgun Team for any specific IPSC or other event. National Handgun Team members shall be selected either through accumulation of qualification points or the wildcard “Captain’s Pick” Points shall be the percentage of match placement in that division in any eligible event. By way of example, if a member shoots 100.000%, that member will be deemed to have 100 points. If a member shoots 87.098%, that member will be deemed to have 87.098 points. If a member places first in category with 80.098 %, that member will have 80.098 points. Division and/or category points may only be earned in the division and/or category shot at eligible matches. (Example: Production division points are only earned from shooting Production division at an eligible USPSA Handgun National or USPSA BOD approved qualification match). Division team selection will use results shot only in that division. Standard team selection will use only Limited or Standard division results. Open team selections will use only Open division results. Production team selection will use only Production division results. Revolver team selections will use only Revolver division results. Category team selection will use only Open division results. For the purposes of this selection policy, “Junior” Category is intended to comply with the IPSC definition. Currently, this is defined as “Competitors who are under the age of 21 on the first day of the 2011 IPSC World Shoot”. In order to minimize any possibility of inadvertent database oversight, competitors in contention for any potential Category team are solely responsible to identify themselves to the Executive Director prior to the start of the 2010 Open Nationals match. Failure of the competitor to identify himself/herself as such may result in being excluded from team selection. [*]Points shall be earned in the following manner: The points from the better of the 2009 or 2010 National Handgun Championships which shall be multiplied by 2.000, plus The total points of the best two (of three) BOD approved qualification matches in 2010. [*]A member may shoot as many qualification matches as they desire but only the best eligible National Championship shall count along with the two highest BOD approved qualification matches. [*]Under this policy, in order to earn all available points, members must shoot a minimum of three matches (one National Championship and two BOD approved qualification matches) but nothing in this policy shall limit the minimum or maximum number of matches which a member elects to shoot. [*]The term "BOD approved qualification match" shall be defined as follows: Three separate matches in 2010 designated by the BOD as “approved qualification match”. Approved qualification matches will be designated by choosing existing Area Championships and will be on the USPSA website under the Major Match heading prior to 1-1-10. [*]2011 World Shoot team slots will be offered to members in the following order: The three highest ranked competitors based on qualification points. Selection will continue in descending qualification order until three team positions have been formally accepted. The fourth member of the team will be a “Captain’ Pick”, subject to review of the Team Manager If the “Captain’s pick” seems based upon favoritism or sponsorship ties (I.E. the Team Captain picks a shooter who has historically not performed as well as others, but shares a common sponsor), the Team Manager has the authority to overrule the decision The Captain’s Pick must be turned into the Team Manager no later than 11-30-2010, and the official teams will be announced on 1-1-2011 Any ties in qualification point positions affecting Items 13a or 13c will be broken, if necessary, using the results of qualification match(es) in which the tied competitors each finished the match(es) with a positive score. The results of the most recent such match will be used. If necessary, results from the next most recent such match(es) will be used until the tie(s) is/are sufficiently resolved. Should any team position become vacant at a point in time where the application of the provisions of Section 13 and 14 is no longer functional or feasible, the appointed U.S. Team Manager shall have the authority to name a suitable, available, and willing competitor to fill that position. Following the 2011 World Shoot, the Board of Directors shall reexamine this policy for potential use for the following World Shoot. The BOD may, at its discretion, continue, amend, or redefine this policy as it sees fit.
  21. FWIW, I'm with Shannon, I don't recall being asked my opinion about the process, the previous one worked great, the proof is in the pudding. Every single USPSA Sponsored team won the gold medal, why change it up? Going to WS isn't just about winning the gold, you must also have the desire to do so, and to represent the country. The 08 process weeded out those who, may be great shooters, but didn't have the burning desire to go. Like Shannon, it was a major goal of mine to make not just the Junior team, but the Men's Open team for WS XV. Were there better shooters than me at the time? Probably so, but none showed the desire to be a representative of the US. So, now tell me would made a better Team member? I'll say this, I have every faith in John to pick great teams based on his opinion of the best shooters at the time. But, what if (god forbid) something happens to John and somebody else is team manager? Edited for grammar.
  22. Dan, Did you have to remove the FP block to melt the J-Point like that?
  23. I don't see that as much of an issue, if the info below is still correct? With 8 & 12 inch rings, it's still about the shooting. Even our new guys don't get upset with the target being too hard. If they miss a target that is 18in wide...they know they've earned the miss. Kyle, After I posted that, I realized I may not have put it in the correct terms. There are indeed other scoring rings on the target, and in the regular metallic sight division, you can usually get away with somewhere around 7-10 "8 Ring" hits and still be in the running for the Cup. The 4" target is my own personal mindset, the highest available scoring ring is my only target, which in this case is the 4" X ring, Everything else is a miss, period. Now, some misses are OK, others aren't, a 10 or 8 ring hit would still be an acceptable "miss", whereas a 5 or a complete miss would not be.
  24. As somebody who will likely shoot their first BC in the Production match in 09, the big points for me are: Aftermarket barrels, aftermarket sights and very little to no trigger work restrictions. Not many production style guns are meant to be shot at 4" targets at 25+ yards, and these are the first three things that are likely to be changed.
