  1. Prices are High because of what I mentioned earlier. There is a lot of business (cattle) in Nebraska at the same time.,
  2. So I just found today that Grand Island Nebraska is going to have a lot of "Cattle events" this summer which means the price of hotels goes up dramatically, by at least 20% (bring your rope) If you are planning on attending, please book your room now for the best rates and availability. I have negotiated discounts at a few of the non match hotels and you just need to call them and ask for the Area 3 discount. The Best Western is giving us 10% off their Summer rates if you book in May and beyond. Right now their online rates are better and you can book from there or call them and ask for the area 3 discount. Once May comes, things get more expesive and availability might be an issue. Their are 2 wedding party's staying at this hotel on Saturday so that will mess with some things. You can signup for the match at our site www.uspsa3.org or just download the registration. Just thought I would share what I Know. 2013A3Registration.doc
  3. We usually start posting stages about two months before the match. So keep an eye out here and on our web site.
  4. I have run at least 30,000 wolf primers I had no problems with them......
  5. I will not use Montana gold anymore. I do not like the lack of communication regardless of what their excuse is. They could at minimum post something on their web site however, my business is going elsewhere.
  6. How did you place on that stage? I placed 10th on the stage but my reason for taking 5 papers targets first was because I was banking on my competition to make mistakes and I wanted the points because I felt like I could get ahead of my competition on that stage.
  7. I can say for me on stage two, the hit factor was low enough that eating a miss or two was not an option. Mike I said before, I took a different route and it worked out well for me. There were choices on that stage. You just had to think about a viable different plan. The swinger was so slow by the time I got to it, that I could seenthe zones. I can't imagine anyone walking up to a 5 hit factor stage and think that a miss or two would be worth it.
  8. And just as those challenging shots teach you a lesson, so should feedback that doesn't meet your ideal of praise. All feedback is good to post whether negative or positive. What I don't care for is when negativity comes from poor sportsmanship which is how I interrupted his post.
  9. Perhaps you should have shot stage 2 like I did. I engaged 5 paper targets first before engaging the swinger. By the time I got to the swinger, it was moving so slow that I could seethe perforations on the target. If you are talking about stage 5, that was a challenging stage also. The timing was odd but still several ways to shoot it. All of the swingers were in your face. Not sure why you are complaining about that.
  10. I will attempt at keeping it easy here because it is posts like this that upset me. The Florida open is a big match that draws competitors from all over the world. Most people would be disappointed if all the targets were in your face. There were some very challenging shots at this match and that is what made it a good combination. Each challenging shot had an alternate less risky way of shooting it and it was up to you to decide. If all of the stages were in your face, I would have been extremely disappointed . Each time I make a mistake on a stage, or can't tackle some of a more complex nature, it tells me what I need to practice for the next match. I will summarize with this statement . Just like your mother use to say, " if you don't have anything nice to say, then say nothing at all".
  11. This was a pretty awesome match. The stages were outstanding. If you did not attended this match, you missed a good way. Thanks Shannon for your hard work and dedication. It really showed.
  12. Agreed, HOWEVER, I must say if it is used for your carry gun, I would not make any modifications to it AT ALL except night sights.
  13. For us, at league club level matches, we would not saw that off because we don't want to cut up a fault line. we all have a basic human agreement, don't sweat the petty stuff. Without the very few who donate their time and resources, there wouldn't be a match in the first place. I dont see anything wrong in a local match like that to construct something and simply tell people (via oral, WSB or FA) not to walk the line.
  14. My official response is "I don't know". My feeling is "No" because there is not a rearward extending fault line at the end of your "Plank" The rear fault line has to be minimum 3 feet. So if that were the course build, and I was the CRO on that stage, I would call penalty.
  15. That's what I was saying. If it was a level I match, then a simple statement to the shooters should be enough. Level II and III should be by the book.
  16. Not looking for a Level I Exemption, just trying to understand the "Scope" of the question. If it were a level one (league type match) then it would be easy to tell all the shooters what it is. Reason being is that there are certain shortcuts in a league style match. If it were level II or III, then it is a by the book match. Just saying
  17. Unless written in the WSB, I can find a rule that supports it and I cant find a rule that specifically penalizes it.
  18. ok, I was going to say that if the fault line issue was for a level II or III, get a saw and prevent the headaches
  19. Argh! Good point Matey! Seriously, I can see the point. That is actually difficult to say because you also put in the written stage briefing that the plank is part of the shooting area. The other fault line example does not indicate that at all. You never answered, was that for a level I Match?
  20. ok, so this is what I think, I can not find a rule number that either allows or disallows you to. I cant find a rule on intersect. For me, when I can't find a specific rule for a circumstance, I default back to common sense and the flavor of the intent. If someone can find a rule to apply, I would love to learn it. Now, with that said, I assume this is a Level I match, correct?
  21. Beautiful. Left side Touch Wall = Penalty Right Side Touch Wall = No Penalty
  22. Mark, If you are setting this up, just make sure the fault lines are way away from the stands and there are no issues. As a courtesy to other shooters, you should inform them of the rule number so they all can learn as they shoot (provided it's a level I match)
  23. Actually no, in the picture, the stands that are holding up the walls on the left side are touching the fault lines which then makes it one piece and you CAN touch the wall. If the fault lines were not touching the stands, then you can not. The key words here are "Wholly outside" any part touching the fault lines fails the "Wholly Outside" test.
  24. From that picture, it looks like the left hand side, the wall stands are touching the fault lines which means you CAN touch. If the fault lines were not touching the fault lines, then NO you can not. On the right side, you CAN touch because the wall is the fault line because it goes from the ground to constructed height.
