  1. Are you sure you're using the right feeder plate for the caliber? I've not had a problem with mine.
  2. I'm a relative beginner too, been reloading about a year now. With a 650 and being new to it all despite having the powder check station managed to produce a squib. The culprit was really operator error in not paying attention to the powder check station. I've since replaced that powder check station with a lock-out die. The die is adjusted to stop the press if there is too little or too much powder in the case. Mine is an RCBS lockout die, I believe Hornady and Lee have lockout dies as well.
  3. I have 223 and 308 competition dies from RCBS and wanted one for 300WSM. However, the 300WSM gold medal dies requires the use of a neck bushing (which is not required with the 223 and 308 competition dies). There is a whole range of neck bushing sizes and I'm confused as to how to choose the right one. Thanks!
  4. bump for the weekend crew in case anybody's found a way.
  5. That looks great! but how do you collate the bullets? Feed it by hand 1 by 1? That takes a lot of time.
  6. Well, I'm ready to order the case trimmer, 223, 308, and 300WSM. There is however no size and trimmer die for the 300WSM cartridge. What size/trimmer die should I order? Is it compatible with 300WM? Thanks!
  7. I ended up with the Exception tactical model with Rx insert, and grey ImpactX lenses.
  8. I found a retail store close to me, I'm good to go. As far as model and lens color which one did you folks go with? I'm looking at the Exception, and Perspection models (both have flip-ups). I like the Exception model better as it appears to have a larger Rx lens area and have thinner side frame.
  9. Thanks for the link and bicycle shop tips, going shopping now.
  10. I've been researching shooting glasses and like the Rudy Project series for the Rx inserts. Of the links I found by searching here it seems none of the result in a store that has availability (and some closed stores). Where did you get yours online? Would appreciate the link please. Thanks!
  11. I use the RCBS lock-out die as a sure way to stop squibs and double loads. My problem with visual and audible methods is that the nut behind the pull lever (me) can get distracted and miss the warning sounds, or visual cue. I had my squib early on while learning the press, with the lock-out die I've not had squibs since :-)
  12. You have a $5,000 scale? Do you have 14k gold faucets too ? They go well with the gold latrine
  13. I finally figured out why it shoots so bad out of my SPR while it shoots well out of my buddy's and my Bushmaster M4. In the SPR which was custom built, and a recently acquired Bushmaster Carbon 15 config, the GA ammo (not having any cannelure crimping) bullet got pushed back into the case, some none, some a little, some quite a bit. I'm quite amazed and thankful that I've not had a big kaboom. In the Bushmaster M4, the GA ammo feeds just fine and we had a blast shooting steel targets out at 400 yards just using an EoTech, and a CQT. All receivers have the M4 feed cuts on them, but it might be a matter of the angle of the cuts (perhaps gentler on the Bushmasters, and steeper on the SPR and Carbon 15). No wonder I was getting such large groups!
  14. Sounds more like an alignment problem to me. I had the same issue happen to me after I had to disasseble the main head of the 650 in an attempt to figure out how to change the primer punch LOL Dillon sent me the alignment tool, it was very simple to do, and I've had no problems since.
  15. I've purchased several thousand headstamp sorted cases from Ed's Brass: https://edsbrassandreloaders.com/displayPro...mp;categoryId=4 So far it's been great service. It took a week for the shipment (via USPS mail).
  16. I finally got myself a bolt action rifle. A Savage 12BVSS in 300 WSM. I normally reload and shoot 223 and 308 match loads using Sierra MatchKing bullets, Varget, and RCBS compeition dies. For the 300 WSM, questions: - Caliber does the 300 WSM cartridge use? Is it the same as my 308 bullets? - Dies do you use? (RCBS doesn't have a 300 WSM compeition die) - Powder? (Varget seems OK to use) - Primer size (does it matter which headstamp case you use?) Thanks!
  17. I love their 308 match in my DPMS 24" SS bull barrel with sub MOA accuracy at 200 yards. I hate their 223 match it gives some 3-4 MOA from my 18" SPR. Horrible stuff.
  18. I developed my loads for 45 ACP during the summer with temperatures around 65F. I'm using 4gr of Clays with 230gr Rainier bullets. Now when I shoot those loads at around 50F, 40% of the time the slide won't lock back on an empty magazine. So looks like I have to increase the powder, and effectively redevelop the load for winter. Do you have different recipes for winter/summer?
  19. The more I look at it, the more I'm passing. $250.- for the entire kit might be reasonable (say inline with the casefeeder price). Loading a bullet is a quick sub 1 second one hand operation, pick up bullet and seat it on the case. At $500+, I just can't justify it compared to feeding the bullets by hand just to save a very minor hand operation??? I'd rather buy a second press with that money, or a Giraud case trimmer, or ...
  20. Wow, thanks for all the replies. I'll hold off on purchasing the Oakley's and peruse the alternatives mentioned here. Thanks!
  21. I perused the threads and FAQs here to find new shooting glasses and I like the Oakley's. I need prescription glasses though, and I understand the Oakley's have an Rx insert. For those that have Oakley's sunglasses and Rx inserts: 1. How does that work? You have 2 lenses per eyeball (one tinted, the other Rx)? 2. How do you get the Rx lenses made? There is very little information on the Oakley site. Many Thanks!
  22. I'll try these recipes. I was thinking of hand feeding the 90's into the chamber. You're right about the landing/rifling, I need to check that out first! Thanks Geoffrey!
