  1. Comin' to me with that soulful look on your face Lookin' like you never never ever done one wrong thing Cream.... My Pappy said "Son, don't let 'em take your gun If you know what's good for you" Grand Funk (?), 1976
  2. I use a Limcat holster for my 6.5 inch 610. IMO it's as fast as a holster can get. As the makers claim though, it's a range holster only. If subjected to violent motion, the gun can move around some though holstered in the locked position. A good feature of the Limcat is that there is no long support stalk projecting down from the trigger cradle to get in the way of movement when the gun is unholstered. While my Limcat holster is sold as a N frame holster, it will accept a number of different guns, e.g. a M&P and a 19-4. No doubt there are others, maybe even some autos, that I haven't had a chance to try.
  3. Thanks guys. I might as well try out everything suggested.
  4. I'm just getting into shooting a 610 Classic in IPSC and it's a heavy gun. Getting the shorter barreled version with fluted cylinder is not an option. To avoid forearm and elbow strain I've been doing low weight/ high reps (15lbs/40-50reps) pushing straight up while on my back and curls while sitting. I'm wondering if/when I should up the weight and do less reps, or just keep doing more reps as my endurance improves? Or, still sticking with the low weight, do more variations in arm exercise (Left circle, right circle)..??
  5. My favourite Duke movie is "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance". I can't think of any good quotes from the movie but the premise fits perfecty with my view of the world, that force is what counts. From the song"..when the final showdown came to pass, a law book was no good." The good guy had to sacrifice himself and the wimp got the girl. Also, I would put "Shane" in the top few Westerns. Gun
  6. About Jerry's class; what were most people using for holsters and did he give any pointers on what to use and what to avoid? I'm asking because I just got a Limcat for my 610 and while it seems as fast as a holster can get, I haven't had a chance to actually use it.
  7. I contacted Dave at Hearthco and got 2 sample clips. Clearly superior. Sent off the order for more today.
  8. I'm wondering if anyone here has used a Limcat holster for a S&W N frame. I need a holster for my 610 and would like to hear of others' experiences. TIA
  9. I love good people. Yesterday on way to the range my SUV spun out on ice and I went off into the ditch. Looked like a 6 hour job of shovelling to get out. 2 minutes later the first truck to come along stops and offers help. He can't do anything but knows a farmer 1000 yds up the road and goes to him to tell him I'm off the road. 10 minutes later a pick up truck with 3 men and a tow rope show up and I'm out of there in 5 minutes. I'm not a Mason but I did notice the farmer had a Mason ring and a Mason emblem on his bumper.
  10. Hi Group, I've been shooting reloads with Lee drive key slugs and get better accuracy in an 870 with a rifle choke than in a Benelli with a full length rifled bore.(2in vs 5in at 50 yds.) This is with fold crimp in 2 3/4 in hulls. I'm thinking that a non-saboted projectile that engaged the rifling might give better accuracy in the Benelli barrel.Has anyone tried this or otherwise have tips for best accuracy in a full length rifled bore using reloads?

  12. Actually, I don't think everyone being unique is anything to celebrate. My point was that there are so many other people I'm thankful that I'm not. Think of the millions of people who are anti-gunners, or socialists, communists, etc. These are people deserving of repudiation, even if they are kind and loving. I am expressing thanks that I'm not one of those millions going from cradle to grave as a fool. I believe I've been blessed with enough insight and wisdom to recognize truth and objectivism, and obviousness. I also realize I must have faults I'm blind to,besides the ones I'm aware of, and independent self evaluation is probably impossible. Yet there is a world of distinction and manifest supremacy between my mentality and that say of Karl Marx, or Bill Clinton. I could put up with having the mind of Thomas Sowell or Teddy Roosevelt, and might even like it better, but I am supremely happy with my mind as it is. I would like more memory, intelligence, and knowledge, but it is the rationalization structures and value systems that I'm talking about, that which when proper in absolute terms amounts to wisdom.
  13. What I like is that I am me. There is no one else's mind that I would rather have. (Bodies are something else )

  15. One thing that always spices up our shotgun shoots is using slugs on discarded pop bottles filled with water, especially when it's the last target in a man-on-man shoot off. Usually the slug has to be loaded after a string of shot or buckshot, to avoid the risk of hitting a mild steel target with the slug. John
  16. My buddy/friend missed them because they were just inside a waist high horizontal barrier that you had to rush up to and engage multiple targets further out, plus I think one or maybe 2 of the close ones were no shoots. Then there was another one, different shooter, who did a field course and the RO scored and signed off on his score sheet. There was a rush on to get finished on time, then a patcher advised a no shoot had been hit but not recorded, which was indeed the case. The RO wanted to change the score but the shooter insisted the signed-off score had to stand. There wa another case where a top shooter started a course and had to stop because he left of his ear protection. The RO let him start again. This was before the rule change. It also happens fairly frequently that a shooter who does a miss on a target will insist he's got two bullets through the same hole, and can get quite indignant when you tell him he's full of it. While I doubt any of the really big names would try those stunts, they are also at matches with top-of-the-line ROs. My point is to realize these people are among us, it's all too easy to assume gun guy=good guy. I was once at a rifle shoot and someone moved the sight on my rifle when it was placed back on the rack. John
  17. Hi Bubber, The brass is starline and the bullets are Hornady hollowpoint. I just had to rush out and do an accuracy test, and the Hornadys were already loaded. The only other bullets I have are Montana Gold and my own cast 175gr truncated cone, which I shoot in a Glock20. I'll try your recommendations, actually never heard of those speed sticks till now. John
  18. Thanks for the input. I'm prepared to buy the Wilson mags but know where to get Colt factory 10 rd ones for $20, so if they had gotten a good word I'd have been tempted to try them, as Colt usually means quality. I know the Auto-Ordnance is not so hot, but mine came with an improved factory trigger and target sights, and only cost $150, so I couldn't turn it down . John
  19. I was once in an IPSC match with a buddy who was shooting a field course. Along the way there were 4 targets just inside a barrier. My buddy just blew by 'em, and when scoring time came, he claimed he had shot at them and missed. I guess he knew he had taken enough shots overall to not get caught with the shots registered on the timer, and I also guess the not-too-experienced RO was too busy watching for safety infractions to pick it up. Yes, there was a prize table. My buddy was not the least bothered by this dishonesty. Apparently, he believes, and apparently, many others believe, that this type of gameing is par for the course. IOW, they believe that the big time mucky-mucks in the sport, gamers, have a win at all costs attitude, and they have set precedents that justify this dishonesty. There is a chinese saying, it doesn't pay to be the only honest man in a room full of liars. True, but this kind of behaviour is a big turn-off to me.
  20. Hi folks, Am looking for recommendations for best quality 10 rd 1911 .45 mags. I will use them in an Auto-Ordnance clone. I checked out the FAQ and the Wilson mags seem to get top rating, other than Tripp mags which I hadn't heard about till now. What about the Colt factory 10 rounders? Nobody mentioned them. The only ones I know to stay away from for sure are the Ram Line, because I actually bought some second hand TIA John
  21. Hello???? A great cartoon??? IIRC, the theme is that this Iron giant is programmed to destroy weapons, and it is the destruction of weapons that leads to a better world, as opposed to say addressing the causes of violence. I thought this movie was a gun-grabbers dream come true.
  22. I live in the Great Pink North, aka Canada. Here the situation is much more deteriorated than in the U.S. It's called celebrating "diversity". It's a socialist scheme to maintain power by setting group A against group B, then proffering yourself as the savior or protector of group A, thus securing group A as a voting bloc. Ghetto-ization and victimhood are encouraged. It helps grow alienation, hate, mistrust, encourages beggary (keep those government grants comming), gives old world crime syndicates communities in which to incubate predators, and leads to unending babble, squabble and degeneration. But it keeps those socialists in power.
  23. Hi folks, I got some Scherer 10mm moon clips for a newly acquired S&W610 and there is a good bit of looseness with rounds snapped into the clips. It's impossible to just drop a clip into the cylinder without some jiggling. Also a loaded round or spent case can be removed from the clip with fingers alone. I have a 1917S&W in .45ACP and loaded clips drop in fast and easy, and it is quite a chore to remove a case from the clip with bare fingers. Are these 10mm clips faulty? Are there other brands that function better? Granted, the back of the chambers haven't been chamfered yet but even if they were I think you'd need to hold the clip perfectly aligned to the cylinder and be perfectly in line with the pull of gravity and hold the clip very delicately so as not to disturb the free hang of the rounds, to get a fumble free drop in. Any suggestions? TIA John
  24. While trying to develope 2 inch 12ga buckshot loads that would function a Benelli M90, I tried using Ballistic Products X12X wads. After a lot of developement all I got were unreliable loads...bloopers...which would fail to cycle every 7 or 9 rounds. Recovered wads from failures all showed gas blow-by. It seems as if with the absence of a cushioning component on the wad, there is too much load inertia to allow the wad to make a good seal. If I use an Active T-35 wad, the load combo works, (although the hull is pimpled because of the reduced space) seemingly because the little cushion plus longitudinal petal strength keep the seal from being tipped or cut through. T-35s with the petals cut off blooped like the X12X. I was not using the hulls or the type of buckshot Ballistic Products recommends. Has anyone used these X12X wads in 2 inch hulls successfully? Any other tips on 2 inch hull loads appreciated. Guninhand
