  1. Yes, I know S&W loyalists will slam it. Yes, the trigger is not as good as the S&W's even with the spring changes. It costs more and on and on....BUT why were so few made as late as 2020? Anyone got insider info?.
  2. How is this done???.... EMAIL me I'm in AZ. Mike
  3. I have 2 TacCom barreled PPC's they are 5 1/2" x 16" & 10 " x 16" w/ shrouds. I shoot in steel competition weekly.I'm using "Blue Bullets" x 124 grn. RN. x 3.4 TG.. The 5 1/2" barrel is an early one feed ramper and has 100's x100's of rounds thru it. I believe his barrels are as good as your going to find and a good value, PLUS he will talk to you and is very helpful..... I use the ETS mags almost 100%. (Glock guys usually run a little shorter OAL... I like to stay near 1.12/1.13, too long and you will have nose-down issues).
  4. Thanks for your opinions...Kind of a mute point since the Rugers aren't available at this time...
  5. Anyone shot both?..(Neither one seems to be available today)... So let's assume we do the internal polishing, replace the trigger/hammer springs and other tweeks... From what I read it seems you may end up with a better "game" trigger with the S&W?..If so,is it going to be a huge advantageS&W over Ruger?..Just curious.I've had a 929 with all the bells & whistles.
  6. Anyone have one?... When will they show up?.... What's up?...

    Canik Rival

    Go Canik site....Looks good.
  8. 2022, Don't see this on the carry optic list yet. (With the magwell removed)... Any updates?
  9. Yup, click and boom., light hit...I've experimented with cut 11#, uncut 11# rebound springs as well as re-curved, stock S&W, Wolff light & heavy hammer springs, old Vic Picket "Black Magic" kit, etc. Internals are polished, all new Starline 38 Super brass, using Fed 100 primers..... Next is a lightened "N" frame hammer. The hammer weighed 1.4 oz. before lightening, after a lot of work, it's 1.1 oz.. I don't see getting it much lighter, maybe a waste of time? ... I have the Power's longer nose hammer pin and think if it was a bit longer all would be well? (Wishful thinking?). Hammer protrusion is close to a "dime" (.0520). The revo is pictured in this forum under my original post as to who built it. Mike
  10. What's the lowest reliable / ignition trigger pull weight I can expect from an 1970's S&W N frame revolver?.. I have the Powers extended nose firing pin installed. 71/2 #'s seems to be about it with Fed. 100 primers.
  11. Just excellent workmanship, curious who built it??.... Started life as as 6 shot square butt long ago (Highway Patrol?).. Was converted to 8 shot and 9x23 caliber (38 Super shoots fine). (Came with Win. 9x23 brass and 165 PF loads). Was reportedly use in Bianchi Cup at one time?. Custom barrel with porting (Even the port holes in the top of the barrel are angle taper ported, not straight bored). It had a picatinny style scope mount & rubber grips which I've replaced. Still nice and tight and very accurate. Ron Powers says he didn't build it, any guess who did?.. Mike
  12. I'm guessing this measurement should be taken with the moon clip loaded with brass to simulate gun ready to shoot?.
  13. 929 S&W revolver. I had a small amount of Clays powder I wanted to use up BUT I had another revolver shooter tell me as far as case expansion, Clays was to fast??... Which maybe true, as I had some moon clipped cases that didn't extract easily recently and this was when using Clays.... My load is 2.8 grains of Clays , Acme 145gr. red coated bullet, 1.10 OAL( same load used for PCC carbine) cronos consistant 129 power factor. Dillon 650 /Lees "U" die, Shockbottle gaged, Fed nickel brass. I have 3n37, 1# of 231, lots of CFE pistol, and Auto Comp, Fed 100 primers. Since the PCC uses Glock styie mags , I didn't want to change the OAL for revolver (I know they could be a bit longer for the revo..). Anyone have the same results with Clays?.
  14. I thought the whole platform felt on the heavy side.(bolt?)...... Didn't seem to point fast for me.....("Spoiled" by the Taccom aluminum shrouded barrel AR I use I imagine?). Was very reliable Glock mags, lower cost than most AR 9mm's.....Just not for me....
  15. Ordered one.....Grabagun had good price
  16. Do you check with a sizing gauge? or use the Lee "u"die?.
  17. What dot do you see on 99% of the open pistols????.... C-MORE's.... Great field of view, ez change dot modules, excellent reputation..... With minimal skill you can make a slide ride from an old C-More Serendipity...
  18. 93 notch (Mustang?, my son has a 89 Police Interceptor w/heavy engine mods))... See my post on mag mods... Pretty simple & low cost. Update.....Maybe a simple fix for the 19 rd. mags?....... I did remove the bolt hold open from both 19 rd. mags, they were much better. I did lightly sanded/polished the follower.I found that on both mags the followers became stuck in the upper part of the mags at the mid point of the 4 slots. i found about .006 difference in the internal measurements before the "slots" and after the "slots"...........Just enough for the follower to drag a bit in the slotted area, NOT before and Not after. (Bottom part of the mag was fine). I looked for a means to slightly expand this area, nothing seemed to be just right?.... HF to the rescue!!!... The 4 pry bar set ($11.99) worked. Insert one of the longer bars into an empty mag in the slotted area and twist. You can see the metal move but just a few .000's. I tried several spots in the slotted area... Now the follower drops in from the bottom and goes completely to the top of the mag... A little crude but it was all i could find at the time Quote Edit

  20. Good info, I have the moly spray on hand... I'll try the spray on one and the BHO removal on the other.... The 5 & 9 rounders work 100%. Time to get a longer bag?...
  21. New RIA 80 owner.... Not new to mag fed shotguns. This gun looks to be well thought out compared to others...Even cycled some 1 oz. x 7 1/2 loads (5 rd mags).. I've been reading all the other 40+ posts on the shotgun including the 19 rd mag info. I did the usual removal of any plastic flash from the follower and removed any sharp edges, reversed the springs, etc. After some initial jamming, the bolt hold open lever edge has been slightly rounded thinking that was the issue?....... Looking at the inside of the 19 rd. mag body, it's easy too see that the rear transition grove from one mag body to the other leaves room for the bolt hold open lever to "catch" and tilt the follower rendering the mag to a "jammed" condition..... I think the bolt hold open could be useful at times BUT the spring inside the bolt hold open is to stiff forcing the follower to tilt???? ... looks like I could either remove the spring & arm (rendering the bolt hold open feature gone) and/or/ try realigning the 2 mag sections as suggested?. Long ago, I had a Tooth & Nail 1919 28 rounder that never functioned 100% from day one even after a trip back to them, yet some are lucky enough to have functional big sticks? ( Yes, I used the proper ammo back then, AA's 1350 fps)...When the follower transitions / gets "stuck" the shells are free to rattle around in the mags. SO, we all know that when "trouble" rears it's head your shooting in a match it seems?.. So what works best?.. It's the follower being stuck/tilted it's not the ammo. The bolt hold open sure could help a reload under match conditions I think?...Opinions please....
  22. Can you post a picture of the mod ?. Thanks.
