  1. Hello all, Doing some research before I start cranking out some 40 cal loads which is a new-to-me caliber. Ive done thousands upon thousands of 9mm/38/45 to this point. Mix of coated and FMJ. I bought 180 and 200gr blues to test. And Im trying to find my way through published data as well as spot checking viability with GRT. On the topic of n320... -No data for coated 200gr out there. They have TMJ in n340 and beyond, but nothing n320 for 200gr. Judging by GRT, which is highly accurate for n320, and a bullet profile I have played around with in their library, Im thinking a coal of 1.130 and charge weights of somewhere in 3.9-4.2gr range would be feasible. Would like someones real world data to confirm or deny this though before I get to experimenting. --for the 180gr, it shows 3.5 thru 4.1gr of n320 for a "Fiocchi, LTC". is that lead truncated cone? But when I try to model anything close to that in GRT it has it way low velocity so I may just not be picking the right bullet in the library. On the topic of alliant sport pistol, one of my favorites: 1.10 coal, with a max charge of 3.6. I could probably extend this out a bit and experiment but it seems fine to me. Does seem that youd have to push pretty much to max at that OAL to get a consistent power factor cushion. However they throw out a very long OAL for the 180gr. 1.160?? Assuming that is due to people loading long for 2011s? The chamber here is reamed so I suppose I could go that long, but havent fiddled with the magazines a ton to know if theyll get fussy that long (this is a CZ tso) Ill be loading on a 550, and using a lee u-die station 1, dillon powder drop/expand station 2, station lee a lee seat/crimp but i dont allow it to apply crimp, just use it for seating, and station 4 is a dillon taper crimp. Thanks everyone
  2. hmm thats odd. I have dillon primer tubes made many years ago and never had an overfill issue. probably can hold 105.
  3. interesting, good to know. Yea I figure that with the price of GM100s these days, once I shoot through my stash which was purchased far cheaper, it will be on to regular fed 100s. taking inventory today and it got me pondering.
  4. My wheelgun gets a steady diet of gold medal gm100s, but I do have some regular fed 100s, just haven't used them in a lightened trigger scenario. Just curious, is there any difference in what we know and love for that "low strike force" federal primer ignition, between the two types? Or are they both about the same in force to set them off?
  5. Yea go figure. Ive shot revolver at one uspsa match, my first actually haha. But Ive decided that revolver is my steel challenge gun, but Im pursuing my CZ in production and/or limited for my uspsa journey. I want to be in the mix of things, rather than just a fringe novelty haha. Although, Ill never abandon my revolver roots entirely and keep it up for steel matches and maybe the odd one or two USPSA matches here and there, on sunday squadding or something after shooting my main gun.
  6. practiscore showed less than 20. i see you and I are from the same neck of the woods. do you go anywhere else for icore or are you shooting uspsa?
  7. Yep that's a trusty powder. The one I learned to reload on, and still have about 6lbs of it..
  8. In 9 mm I would look no further than vv n320 or alliant sport pistol. You will be set for life using either of those and some good coated bullets like blues. N320 is extremely clean and has a good case fill
  9. Caveat, I'm sure it's outrageously pricey. But seems incredibly accurate. If business picks up then you can buy haha.

  11. They have pistol versions, but you can see the rifle one here.
  12. Is the DAA a pain the loosen the belt attachment and remove the mount? I don't own two belts yet, but probably should. And I switch to my production rig/CZ holster a couple times per month.
  13. Cool product, very innovative. Have you seen the triggerscan system by the way?
  14. Hey folks. Looking for a better holster to replace my basic kydex. I use a S&w r8 for my steel setup (n frame). I can't really decide between the DAA alpha x and the cr speed wsm2. Anyone have experience with these in a revolver context? It would appear that even if I go with the DAA for the revolver, I would still have future functionality to change the insert and use for a limited gun (when I expand into that class eventually) I would also probably have to get the DAA muzzle support kit for revolvers I assume.
  15. Just fyi.... Go have a sandwich, kick back, relax. See you in a year haha.
  16. noted! what colors? got any pics? also, i havent mounted the rear sight yet but Im wondering how the .125 width fits into the rear notch
  17. Well I went with the SDM green fiber front. Still mulling my options for rears currently. Damn the green is bright when it collects light! I like it. It is just a slight bit longer than the previous sight, and you can see it overhangs a little but not a huge deal to me. Not sure if there are shorter versions of the same sight I couldve bought. I know there are height/width variations though.
  18. oh very interesting. ok. do you use a different main spring? @mchapman i also do the set screw in my r8 I just did. are the rebounds interchangeable between the different frame sizes? i have a bunch and Im pretty sure they were labeled k/l/n frame but I have to dig them out i cant remember. 11lbs to 14lbs in my toolbox.
  19. Hello everyone, Im feeling emboldened after the general success of the trigger work on my r8, and setting my sights onto my 617. The trigger pull on it is ungodly, has to be over 12lbs easy because it trips the max weight beep on my scale every time I've tried it. Its also been back to smith twice for light strikes last year, and I suspect they just cranked the strain screw even more. Only specific note from the repair order was "side plate repair" and it fires reliably as it sits ever since. But damn is that trigger heavy, now that I have 7lbs on the other gun and another comparison. Id like to recap/sanity check some of the stuff I've read on various other forums/threads and get your thoughts. 1)don't go with the extended firing pin, keep it stock. not needed 2)use the mass driver hammer from apex 3)not sure on going with reduced main/rebound, couldn't find conclusive info on what worked. 4)8lb DA pull should be realistic to light off most ammo, if not definitely on federal auto match (i coincidentally arrived on auto match with the stock gun because it was the least sticky to eject from the gun, so i have a lot of that) Any other nuggets of knowledge on doing lightening with a rimfire. I definitely feel like its more of a mixed bag and less of a sure thing than messing with centerfire.
  20. Ok well that was easy. I just noticed though that the midway item I linked above was .025 higher. Sdm was .250 and the stock below was .227. will it be noticeable having to adjust the rear to compensate? A taller front site would coincide with bringing my impacts down. Just wasn't sure if .025 morheight would really make me run out of adjustment room .
  21. So this would work, correct? In my case. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/2170528009?pid=874812
  22. Oh I didn't think I had that type. I fiddled with it for a minute but couldn't get it to move. I'll give it another go
  23. Currently I am really enjoying shooting the vortex on my r8. Eventually I may go back to irons just for kicks. I really like those LPA rear sights , and may do a gold bead like you find on the 325 thunder ranch or many other examples. I'm a little bit apprehensive of doing some of the drilling required that I see in some of the how-to videos. Is there a factory option that is already drilled where I simply just have to punch a new Pin in? I see the SDM ones get pretty high praise but those require drilling. Or is drilling a requirement when messing with any front sight? Here is what I have stock. Also, even if I don't go gold bead and go fiber, is it all a mandatory drilling there too?
  24. He's got some impressive competition credentials
  25. So the stock one I measured is about 507 with about 403-405 under the head. It's also stainless and not blued. My exact model is not listed but I'm going to assume after reading one of the reviews that this should be the one to work? https://www.midwayusa.com/product/100449340?pid=651695 Mine
